Shelf is made of good solid and attractive wood. It's nicely designed but a little unstable on carpet so you may want to attach it to the wall for safety. They do provide hardware for that purpose which is nice. I gave this a four start because there were no holes pre-drilled in the top and bottom shelves so I had to do it myself. That made assembly much more difficult and time intensive. Still, the unit went together nicely. Well worth the money. I was pleased enough to purchase a writing desk from the same manufacturer.
Parawood takes beautiful finish

Before assembly I used Watco Danish oil to match shelf parts to existing furniture. Smooth unfinished Parawood absorbed stain beautifully. Then I finished with a top coat of urethane. Assembly was easy.
Sturdy and visually appealing unit

All components accounted for. Instructions were straightforward - be sure to read through before assembly. I used wood glue and pre-drilled holes for assembling top and bottom shelves. The unit is sturdy and visually appealing, with ample storage.

Great all wood bookcase. Assembly was a snap, especially after following another reviewers tip to predrill the holes where the screws attach the top and bottom shelves. I assembled it by myself in less than an hour. I'm going to order another one. I did not attach to the wall and the unit is sturdy and doesn't wobble.

very sturdy, I did not need to attach it to the wall, it stands on its own. The construction was a bit tricky, read directions carefully
NOT TOO HARD !!!

PILOT HOLES IN THE TWO SHELVES REQUIRING SCREWS WOULD HELP TO LOCATE THE PLACEMENT AND SPEED UP THE ASSEMBLY ..... RUBBERTREE WOOD IS TOUGH !!
