black and cherry
Elizabeth from Omaha, NE– Verified Buyer
We bought three of these stools in black and cherry. Our only disappointment is that the color of the cherry wood is more golden brown than reddish. We had hoped to better match the red tones of our mahogany floor. We might order the stools unfinished if we had it to do over, just so we could get the exact seat color we imagined. The stools assemble very easily, using nothing more than the enclosed Allen key and your own Phillips head screwdriver. First there is a group of bolts that you install to attach the seat frame to the back (the back comes as one completed assembly). Second, you attach the front legs to the seat frame, also using bolts. All of these bolts must be left untightened initially. Next you install some self-tapping screws to attach the front and side stretchers to the legs, and you do tighten these screws right away. Contrary to some reviews, we found that all the screw holes that are needed already exist and you don't need to drill any new ones to install the stretchers or the seat. Just drive the enclosed self-tapping screws into the wood, following the angled slots already established in the stretchers and in the seat frame. The self-tapping screws are very sharp and no pre-drilling is necessary. After the stretchers are installed, level the chair by standing it on a level surface and then tighten all the bolts from the first steps. All of our stools turned out stable and don't rock or wobble. Assembly can be done by just one person. The stools are sturdy, attractive, relatively comfortable, and a good value. Made in Vietnam. Ours arrived in just two days after placing the order, which is impressive. They look great at our kitchen island.

the blacknatural wood on these chairs and butterfly counter-height dining table work great in a modern decor. Just too cool. Assembly very easy.

Madrid Counter Height Stools

Four stars because one of the two stools I bought was missing some screws and both are a little wobbly.I'm glad I have a husband that is handy and could fix both of those issues. The wood seems very sturdy and I feel like they will be a good purchase, only time will tell.
Solid chair at a decent price
Nathalie from Ontario, Canada
These arrived ready to prime and paint and were very easy to put together. We did have to bring out a drill to pre-drill the holes to attach the seat to the frame but otherwise, I'd say these are solid chairs. Too bad they have to be manufatured overseas though.
Very Happy With These Chairs

When these arrived (all 8 of them) I got concerned that they were going to be chintzy because of how light the supposed 20lb boxes were. But happily, when I opened them and assembled one I loved them and do not feel they are cheaply made. They seem like they will hold up to the every day use in my kitchen that they were purchased for... now I just have to stain them all.. but I need to match a table I already own so the unfinished feature is exactly what I wanted/needed.
