If your electrical box is not the smallest rectangle type, the pre-drilled holes on the metal plate become useless to secure it to the ceiling. My electrical box is 4 round type, so I have to drill 4 extra holes on the metal plate 316 each to secure the metal plate to the ceiling joist and stud. There should be more holes on the metal plate to accommodate different type of electrical boxes.
