By doing these five simple things, you'll have a tidy bedroom in the blink of an eye.
#1: Put Away Clothes and Shoes
This first step is one of the most important, especially if you're messy. By clearing the floor of clutter, your room will look cleaner immediately. Plus, you'll be able to find your favorite sweater or top when you need it.
If you're constantly tripping over shoes, invest in pretty shoe storage that will encourage you to put them away.
A tidy bedroom isn't complete without a made bed. Since it's the focal point of the room, give it a little extra love. But it doesn't have to take long—pulling up the covers and tossing on three accent pillows will do the trick!
Tip! Linen spray freshens up bedding instantly, but it can be a bit expensive. Make your own by combining 1 teaspoon essential oil (we love lavender), 1/4 cup vodka, and 3 1/2 cups filtered water.
When dressers, nightstands, bookshelves, and desks are neat, your bedroom won't feel cluttered. Use decorative boxes to hide items you don't want seen, and gather decorative items (candles, vases, etc.) onto trays for a pulled-together look.
Purge your collection of magazines, books, jewelry, and more as you go. As you place one thing on a shelf or in a box, take one out and put it in a donate or trash pile.
Dusting is one of the easiest ways to get a room to shine. Shelves, window treatments, and baseboards are magnets for pesky dust, so start there. To prevent re-doing surfaces, dust from the top to the bottom.
Tip! Dry dust first. Then, use a wet cloth or a cleaning wipe to give your furniture that finishing sparkle.
Last, but certainly not least, vacuum! Get all of the dirt you've tracked in and the dust you just cleared off your shelves out of the bedroom. Don't forget to swipe under the bed to clear out dust bunnies that hide under there.
Tip! Vacuum horizontally and vertically to ensure you pick up all of the grime embedded in the carpet fibers.
