Howard Miller Ty Pennington 46.25" Oxford Bookcase in Saratoga Cherry - 920000

This case is beautiful but huge! I purchased it to house my teenage son's massive collection of books. His bedroom is average sized but the case really crowds the space. The height and width are perfect but I did not pay enough attention to the depth...the shelves are 16" deep with the lovely crown molding extending to 18". The distance between the shelves is too high. If you make adjustments to narrow them, you end up with gapingly wide spaces. The picture of the case is a clue; this piece is best designed to hold display items, large collectibles or oversized books. If you are trying to shelve a large collection of standard sized books and/or paperbacks, this is not the shelf for you. The piece should be redesigned with six shelves instead of four and the depth should be decreased to 12". If I can not find a way to drag it out of my son's room, I will try adding two tiered book racks to accommodate my son's paperback collections. Though I would not recommend this for my fellow bookworms I would highly recommend it for those who need classy storage space for bins or for displaying decorative pieces and collectibles.
