Hooker Furniture Vineyard 54" Buffet with Glass Top Hutch - 478-75-900 / 478-75-901

This buffet/hutch combo is absolutely beautiful! We have it set up at the entrance into the dining room, and love that you can display (and illuminate) some things behind the glass door of the hutch while storing away other items that you don't want others to see in the bottom buffet. The quality is great and the craftsmanship is awesome. The glass is beautifully distorted like you would see on many antique furniture pieces, but still allows your treasured china items to be fully featured. The shelves in the hutch are wood frame with glass inserts to allow the light to shine through them, so loading up the shelves fully is not a good idea. We reinforced the shelves with a couple of screws from the back just so they don't bend under the weight of the displayed items. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the color of the cherry wood is a bit darker than it appears in the pictures, but it still matched our cherry wood dining room nicely.[...]The only surprising thing and a bit of dismay for us was finding out that the furniture is made in China. We just expected Hooker furniture to be made in the USA. Overall, though, we are very happy with this purchase.

This buffet & hutch are extremely beautiful and functional. We wanted something non-traditional but not contemporary. My husband was iffy about ordering it because of the glass, but he was very happy with the results. One note: the light 'switch' is in fact the top right hinge!! You tap it and the light brightens & dims according to how many times you tap it. There was no paperwork included so we had to call Hooker to help us with this feature. At first, we thought the lighting fixture was broken! We were very pleased to find out that it was operator error. =-)
