mom on a mission

Ok, so husband is deployed and we recently settled into our new home and didn't have a dining set. After months of looking I chose the Huntsman because it looked rustic, but not too much and solid. Upon arrival there were three boxes, one for chairs, one for bench and one for the table. I could handle the bench and chair boxes , however the table box proved to be ridiculously heavy...like 100+ pounds. After managing to walk the box from the drive way (where it was left) to the dining room I began unpacking each box and meticulously setting each piece in order and checking it off the list of inventory. Each piece was neatly labeled for easy identification, the instructions were fairly accurate ( it does instruct you to put your leaf locks on backwards, so heads up ) Be sure to pay attention to which direction holes are on each piece before screwing it in-you get one shot before you strip the holes. The instructions also say NOT to use a drill (although I can see why-I did screw through the top of the table slightly on one but adjusted by drill) Unfortunately the wood is too hard to hand screw all of them in (and there is a LOT) You'll need a long skinny attachment for your drill as the holes are pre-drilled deep into the pieces. (or a long skinny screw driver if you are going the manual route ) It did take me 5 hours to put the bench and table together-with no help, I haven't even touched the box of chairs yet. Trust me when I say, NOTHING , not ONE piece of anything is put together for you. It is time consuming and I consider myself pretty good with tools and handy work as I am stuck doing it often. As far a quality goes, once put together it seems very solid, and sturdy . I am not very satisfied with the appearance. It looks more rustic in the photo that it really is. When crafting the wood, it was not used to its full potential- too many plain pieces with fake knots and wear marks. It also appears as if the wood has accidentally scratched prior to staining and they just stained over it-doesn't give it a worn appearance, just an abused appearance. However, with three kids I am sure they will work their magic. I gave it three stars because the table is real wood, and solid-but it was more of a pain to put together than I think was necessary and I am not impressed with the quality of stain and character.
Nice Rustic Look

I purchased this set on sale. I don't feel that it is worth the original $2,000 price tag, but it was worth the $800 I paid. The bench is very very sturdy. The chairs are good as well, but should have some felt sliders to prevent scratching the wood floor and to steady it better. The table is great in the fact that the end leafs add quite a bit to the length of the table and can be used with or without them easily. They are very quick and easy to put on and off. There is assembly required, obviously, as you are purchasing a large dining room set on line. It comes in 3 very large boxes with many many parts. You will need power tools, to help speed things up. Definitely set aside an afternoon to do it and a lot of patience. Be very careful not to over tighten the screws as they will go through the top of the table and cause holes. All in all, I really like the rustic style of the table and it was worth the $800 sale price I paid.
great set for a great value

I wanted a farmhouse table for a while and found one I loved at a local store for over $2000. I would have gladly paid that if it was solid wood. However, the salesperson informed me that it is, like pretty much all furniture, wood composite with a veneer on top. Basically, no different from this table, at more than half off the price. So, I purchased this table once I settled on buying a table that had a veneer on it and I have been quite pleased. Yes, I have to still eat with placemats, but that's okay.

The dining set arrived in 3 boxes with clear instructions and the furniture was exactly what I had hoped to receive - in fact, it exceeded my expectations.

The desk is a mess. We put together a table, chairs and bench's just fine but the desk was impossible. Only pictures and numbers and more holes in the pieces than needed and you went sure what went in which hole. Was that done just to see how frustrated they could get you? I can't get the drawers in at all. We have tried every variation possible and it just won't work. So, I am drawerless. Forget about the good price. If you are just average with putting stuff like this together then you will never complete it. NEVER AGAIN.

This table is really nice and has a lot of room which is perfect for our large family. It's nice since it also has leaves to make it bigger for an event or party. The only downside to this table was that it came shipped with so many pieces that needed to be put together. Took many hours for my husband to assemble.
Table, bench, four chairs, and two extra chairs

The Table, chairs and bench needed to be assembled completely. All parts, nuts , bolts, etc. were accurately packaged, with 1 extra screw when finished. Assembly took me about 20 hours.
