Kept contemplating this shelf. Had the look I was wanting but really needed black. Wanted a bookcase or shelving unit for our livingroom but didn't want anything standard. Looked for something unique and kept going back to this unit. My first purchase from Wayfair and am extremely satisfied and happy. It is very dark in color so easily passes for black. My husband put it together with little assistance from me. Not the easiest piece to put together but not the hardest either. Just takes patience and about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete. Item came quickly and nothing was damaged. Shelves come labeled so you know what goes where. Only improvement that could be made to make assembly a little quicker and smoother is to have the individual bags of hardware labeled so it is easier to find what you need. When finished unit is sturdy and heavier than I imagined it would be. Good quality unit at a great price by far and I couldn't be more happy with this purchase!!
Good for the price

I consider myself an expert at assembling flat pack furniture, and this piece was particularly challenging. In the assembly instructions not all of the holes and markings are shown, which can make it difficult to figure out which direction you want the piece to be facing. I also did not assemble it vertically as they indicated I should but instead put the shelves face down on the ground and laid the bar on top of it, which made it easier to screw in the shelves.

This item was purchased for a trade show display. We bought four of them to show product on. They are finished on both sides so can be used as dividers. I would not reccomended loading the shelves with a heavy load, we kept it to about 20lbs each floating shelf.
really happy with it

Fine....it's not be BEST quality. But I didn't pay crazy money for it. It looks fabulous, the value for it is GREAT. I was able to put it together by myself, but some parts (like getting the shelves in) were a bit tricky where I had to use my shoulder and both hands. Maybe it took 2 hours If you can, use 2 people - I was too impatient, and almost gave it up (I worked up a sweat on those shelves), but carefully took my time and it worked! I laid everything out in advance, used a marker to hand-label the clear pouches with the parts to match the directions (you would think they would have done that), and that made it really quick to find the pieces per the instructions. I bought it thinking I would have to paint it black, but the dark brown is so close I left it alone and it works fine.

I bought this to be a combination bookcase/night stand. The third shelf up works perfect for my clock, lamp and e-reader. It's different and has a great look. It is in my guest room and every person who has used it said they would consider using it for the same purpose. My room is mission/craftsman style and this is between the bed and the vanity sink. Guests use the shelf for personal items, instead on cluttering the vanity top. With the luggage stand, this makes for a really nice comfortable guest room. It's tricky to assemble on your own so plan on asking a friend for help. You will not be disappointed.

I received the package, in tact, and in the time specified. The instructions and hardware were easy to navagate, so I assembled it the same day. Installing the shelves IS a two-person job, but the overall outcome was perfect. I wanted a cabinet to display my most precious keepsakes, but my living room/dining room is moderate; it does not allow for big furniture. This bookcase made the perfect addition. It is stylish without being overbearing, and accentuates my bland wall. Also, I did not have to anchor it for stability.
Assembling a Beautiful End

Let's start with the End in Mind, the Charity Bookcase in Cappuccino is a beautifully designed unique piece of furniture. It fit perfectly in an unoccupied corner of our living room, displaying photos of family and friends. The journey was well worth its end, as there were a few hiccups along the assembly-way (non we could not handle). All in all, we love our Charity Bookcase in Cappuccino, it added the perfect final touch to our living room! :)
Stunning contemporary bookcase!

This looks fabulous to display special pieces. It's tall but doesn't take up a lot of room. It looks way more expensive once assembled that the actual cost of the piece...it looks like "quality store bought furniture".
Pretty but structural design can improve

not very hard to assemble if one has the right tools. I wish the manufacturer had put signs on the shelves to indicate front and back. I had put the bottom on backward although minor still shows two drill holes if look closely. Also I wish there would be adjusting mechanism. Do not believe all floors a perfect. I have to use cardboard to level it. The sticky patches that are supposed to conceal the holes are not very sticky either.

I am really happy with my purchase. The bookshelf looks great and is pretty sturdy. I've gotten so many compliments. The color is really nice. Its dark enough to still go with black furniture, but does have the brown tint that would go with brown furniture. Also a great height. The only downside is having to put it together piece by piece. I wouldn't recommend trying to put it together by yourself, make sure you have someone there to help you.
