I use lift on a recreational kayak (back is wider than the front) so it doesn't hang quite as nicely as in the photos. The slings over time would actually allow the kayak to work its way out, or being in California an earthquake could allow them to fall out. Easy fix though, just use a bungee to pull the two slings toward each other. Now even in a good sized earthquake the slings will stay in place and the kayak will just swing back and forth. I installed two of these lifts. The first one took about 2 hours and the second less than an hour because I knew what I had to do. I mounted the lifts on a 2x4 that I attached the rafters in the attic. I have a finished garage so I had to find the rafters from below and this of course added to the installation time. On an unfinished garage you can install a lift in less than 30 minutes. I would absolutely buy another set if we get another kayak. Very pleased with a product that works as advertised."..."Read more
