King size beds are overwhelming in their size alone for most bedrooms so you dont want to add to the problem by adding a headboard that makes it worse. This headboard looks great, [...] and was not very difficult to assemble. My only issue is that it does not come in Cal King size. If you have a Cal King bed you must purchase extension plates in order to make the King headboard fit on a Cal King frame. I got my extension plates for $15 from a local mattress store. Also, the extension plates show a little bit on either side of the bed. We purchased this headboard (stained in maple) for our master bedroom a couple years ago. And we purchased the same headboard for our guest bedroom a couple weeks ago. This headboard is solid pine (no composite board or veneer), which makes it a lightweight and good-quality product.
