I live by my crockpot. It's the single most important cooking item in my kitchen. For a busy wife and Mother, it's perfect for the one-pot, fix-and-go meal. It cooks slowly, so the flavours meld together. It can be started early morning and be ready for dinnertime. Little mess, easy cleanup. This model has a glass lid, so you see the food as it cooks. There is a ladle rest on the lid's handle (brilliant idea!) for convenience. The crock is removable for easy washing. I LOVE the snap-locks to keep the lid on when traveling. I've found no drawbacks to this item at all.

I have used this slow cooker twice, and I really like it. I took a huge batch of teriyaki chicken to a teacher's luncheon, and it didn't spill one drop! I also like that it comes with a serving spoon that fits on the handle. Love the a slot at the front that lets you label it. Perfect for potlucks!

I was a little skeptical at first because this unit looks more like a Nesco cooker than a crock pot. And having owned two Nesco cookers, I didn't want another one. I was afraid it would cook too hot too fast - my main complaint with Nesco. But after using it just one time, I was a believer. This beauty works like a small crock pot but with much larger capacity. It does indeed "slow cook" meats to perfection. My only complaint - and it's not really a complaint, more like a suggestion - is that the oval shape makes it difficult to fit large cuts of meat inside. The lock-down spillproof lid requires the oval shape, I suppose, so that's a bit of a trade-off, but not enough to be an actual black mark against it. I also like that the ceramic cook pot comes out for easy cleaning, just like a crock pot. A spoon rest (with included spoon!) and a brilliantly designed lid rest round out the list of pros. Overall, you can't go wrong with this unit at this price. A terrific bargain!

I've had quite a few crock pots in the 60's & 70's but they don't come close to the Hamilton Beach 6 qt. cooker! The oval shape and stainless steel housing makes it very contemporary looking and the quality of the cooker is excellent! I just got mine very recently so have used it only a few times but so far it works perfectly!! You'll love it!!!!
