Greenhouses

I bought my greenhouse last summer and I love it because: It is affordable; lenghthens my short growing season considerably (a 100w bulb helps to deter overnight freezing); easy to put up, take down, and store; sturdy construction; is vented and provides good growing atmosphere; provides protection from wind, critters, etc.; The 8 x 12 gives me room to store my tools, soils, etc. and it keeps my growing area looking neat and attractive. The only cautionary tip I have is that although it isn't particularly light-weight, it still needs to be anchored to keep high winds from moving it. This is my second Spring Gardener greenhouse. Last year I bought the 6 c 8 and it and a space heater kept my tropicals alive all winter in really good shape. Because I have added many more tropicals this year I needed a larger greenhouse. It arrived in a timely manner, went up easily (remember we built on last year so we did have a clue)and we are very happy. One problem ...the windows would not close at the bottoms. I have contacted the manufacturer, Jewitt Cameron and they are shipping me new sides for the greenhouse. Fortunately it is not COLD yet and the sides will easily switch out in about 20 minutes or less. I enjoy doing business with companies that stand behind their products and are happy to provide good customer service. Jewitt Cameron is a company I will promote to my friends and family because they do provide a great product...and if it isn't great, they will make it great! Very easy to put together (and will break down just as easy for storage). There is enough room on each tier for a 'flat' and then some. Be sure to tie the cover to the frame (my fault...just didn't notice the built-in ties at first). Advertised as being ideal for a deck or patio, but I'm using mine out in the open, against the house. However, since it is exposed to wind I weighed it down so it wouldn't tip. Not sure if it will serve as a cold-frame alternative for winter growing of salad greens, but it is definitely serving its purpose of getting my plants outside safely to transition to the garden."..."  Read more

We have just built a garage and wanted a corner shelf to store items on that wouldn't interfere with parking of vehicles or walking around them. This unit works great in the front corner of the garage. A lot of other metal corner shelves were too small or not sturdy. This one is large enough to store a lot of items and sturdy. You need to play with top piece and sides to get it standing perfectly standing straight. Great value for the money. Since our garage has a red 59 Thunderbird we spray painted the shelf the same deep red color to match which worked out well. Looks like a custom piece that was made for the corner. Don't know how good it is as a greenhouse but for a storage shelf definitely works!"..."  Read more
