Not for use with 1.5 inch poles
Kevin from San Francisco, CA– Verified Buyer
This thing is sturdy, heavy, and well constructed. However, the screws used to hold the umbrella in place barely make contact with a 1.5" pole. I had to find replacement screws at a hardware store. Also, in the photo, there appears to be a green collar ring, which I assume would help keep the pole centered, but one did not come with mine. The color is not as black as they show in the photo, more of a dark grey. Finally, the powder coating is a little 'unrefined' with bumpy areas and drip marks. If you have an umbrella with at least a 2" pole, this will work fine.
Lovely umbrella stand :)

I decided to buy really good umbrellas, and really good stands to go with them. I love them. They have none of that my previous stands have had. In common with most folks, I've had a variety of umbrella stands over the years. Some have been too light to prevent the umbrellas from blowing over. Some have turned out to have too small diameter shaft holders for the next umbrella that I've purchased. And, most infuriating, some have had the connection between the base and the shaft holder come loose; I had one stand I came to loathe as it would slowly loosen and the umbrella would start to tilt.

it was delivered fast, and is of very good quality solid, stainless steel bolts and washers with a high quality umbrella rod holder
Turn down the base!
UncleFun! from Washington DC– Verified Buyer
The cylinder the umbrella goes into is three inches diameter and I have only a regular 1 1/2 inch umbrella. This should have been discussed before selling it to me. I wrote to inquire about any kind of insert, but never heard from anyone. It was really too much base for home use. I explained that, being on the 11th floor, I needed a fair amount of weight, but this thing is just a monster. It took two of us just to unpack it and get it on my terrace. Also, at 133 pounds it was just way too heavy to send back, so I just ate the cost. Lesson learned.
