About Great American Woodies and Cypress
Cypress is a naturally decay-resistant wood, and its uses reflect that. In addition to rugged outdoor furniture, cypress is regularly used in building construction, posts, beams, decks, docks, porch flooring, greenhouses and siding. Fine grain cypress is used to make custom cabinetry.
Because of its durability, cypress can be used in many of the same products as cedar and redwood. The reason for this durability is a natural preservative oil known as "cypressene" which gives the heartwood resistance to insect attack and rot.
Cypress is a close-grain wood that is resistant to checking and warping. The cypress in this product is kiln-dried before manufacturing and ready for staining. Cypress is a beautiful, distinctive and durable wood that assures you years of trouble-free satisfaction.
