The problem with these bar stools (36") is that the bottom support is to high. When people try to get on the bar stool, they have to "climb". The first ring of supports should be about 4" lower so it is a natural step onto the seat of the chair. We have had a lady fall of the chair and the chair tip on top of her. I am not going to have to modify the entire bar because I am out of options and can not allow a potential law suite in the waiting.

Loved these stools. Was worried about having such high stools with young kids but they are really stable and really study. With all the wood choices it was easy to match them with the rest of the room.
Melissa Anne 36" barstools
Jan K from Queen Creek (East of Phoenix), Arizona– Verified Buyer
The barstool seats are the correct height, because our countertop is 48" tall. However, the stabilizing bar near the bottom of the barstools is over 18" from the floor, making it very very difficult to step up and sit onto the seat without the stool tipping over. We're currently using a stepstool to be able to get up into the seat. We will look for a company who can cut the legs down several inches so we can use the barstools without the help of a stepstool. :(
Height option(good), Plywood Seat(ugh!)
Scout130 from Bensalem, PA
This product is used for a 44.5" counter height on the family room side of a kitchen. The chairs we purchased are 33" high. The chairs are relatively sturdy, although they do tend to rock toward the front for medium to heavy build males. We purchased the wood seat (mahogany finish on beech) so that it was easy to slide onto and off of the high seating without wearing down fabric which we thought would take a lot of abuse. We were somewhat surprised and disappointed that the wood used for the seating as well as the seat backs is actually plywood. We were charged [$] per wood seat and it was assumed we were getting real, solid wood, as in the pictures. However, this wasn't the case. Our seat backs are the ones with the 5 slots and you can see on at least one of the chairs where the laminate face of the plywood is chipped. We're curious to see how this will hold up. In addition, you can feel the roughness of the plys of wood around edges of the seats at tops of the seat backs. Real beechwood, not plywood, as on the Holsag chairs we used on the other side are much nicer. Unfortunately, Holsag didn't make the same chair in a 33" height. We would recommend the chair to a friend but would not recommend getting the plain wood seat, unless they didn't mind plywood.
Superb in Every Way!

We were looking for a slightly taller than usual bar stool as the bar in our home theater was a few inches taller than typical, We had usual height bar stools in the kitchen that we tried in the theater and it was clear that people under 6 feet would need a phone book on the seat to get high enough to see the whole screen. So we looked for something taller and found these. perfect in every way. There were many, many finish choices. There were no flaws in the ones we got. If you have a bar counter that's a bit high, or you have family members who are a bit short, then look long and hard at these.
Perfect for our tall counter height

With a 44" counter and a variety of users in our family, the 33" seat height option is working perfectly for us. The seat (wood) and back (we chose 3-slot) are generous for a larger person, angles and countours comfortable. Foot rails well placed, though a thouch thin/sharp for socked feet. Web site represented wood and metal finishes accurately, so the colors are great. Finishes are good quality and consistent. Stools are rock solid - some might say heavy, but I think the material weight is a positive for the extended height. Great lines work with our mix of classic and modern furnishings. We are very pleased.
