Almost what I wanted from Rochester, MN on 07/25/2014 – Verified Buyer
Several Major Pros: 1. The numerous small perforations in the top for draining compost tea to the base. 2. Relatively easy to spin the top on the base. 3. Spigot valve seems up to the task. 4. Plastic mesh seemed like its probably too small for mosquitos to get inside the main reservoir but large enough that water is not overflowing up the indentation where it rests (observed during moderate rainfall). Many Minor Cons: Twisting on the spigot to the base was difficult due to the bottom of the pre-cut hole having arrived with partially crushed and deformed grooves so a perpendicular installation required some of my other tools and elbow grease. The extra plastic shavings from the original pre-cut hole were all loose inside the base, ready to clog up my spigot valve if I didn't clean it first (open outdoors and not on carpet). Fruit flies and other crawlies have moved in through the perforated holes in droves, and can surprise you in large numbers if you open up the lid too close to your face. The lid grooves are oriented so that it is too easy to start to twist it almost-closed in an off-kilter angle rather than closing the lid firmly and flush. The base lacks a functional overflow hose to divert excess water away. Wish list: 1. Better molded groove design with less easy to deform plastic (i.e. better durability of the parts that are going to take the most stress). 2. Since the base is oval, I would have much preferred to orient the pre-drilled spigot to the lowest point on the side so that a subtle tilted incline would improve the "harvest" of the bottom of the reservoir and maximize water pressure. 3. Include a 6 foot overflow hose that prevents backup of water above the plastic mesh grate so water can be directed somewhere more appropriate. Bottom line: Happy enough to keep it, but not thrilled with the value

Pretty good! from Brooklyn, NY on 07/15/2013 – Verified Buyer
The design is great but the execution isnt perfect, although pretty good. The whole thing is pretty easy to set up. The compost bucket spins easily for rotating at first but has a few poorly placed holes through which small bits of compost leak in the concave plastic of the rain bucket where it sits. This needs to be cleaned to keep the compost part spinning easily. That said, the future-compost seems to be decomposing nicely at 3 weeks and it doesn't smell at all, unlike an open compost system. The rain bucket doesn't make enough pressure to push water through our hose. We can use it to fill a watering can which is fine for us, but if you were watering a lawn, it wouldn't be great. Adding a pump would be a good idea.

Worth the wait from Sacramento, CA on 09/08/2014 – Verified Buyer
This item was out of stock every time I went looking for it. I finally was able to order it and I have been very pleased with it. It came in two boxes in two different days, but when I finally got it all together I was impressed with the minimal assembly required and how everything fits together. The seal on the compost half is very good, the dog has not been able to get into it, nor have the racoons or other wildlife. I am looking forward to using the rain barrel water in my garden this spring!

All as advertised from Calumet, MI on 10/22/2012 – Verified Buyer
Good price, arrived in two different shipments about a week apart. Construction seems good. In researching the product ahead of time, complaint seemed to be: "I never got the second piece" (not a problem for me), or "I can't screw the hatch back on" (not a problem, if the threads didn't line up perfectly the first time, just reverse it a half turn, it will line itself back up). "the tumbler doesn't roll well" (also not an issue) or "there were no instructions included" (yes, there are instructions included). Now, in all fairness, it's October in northern Michigan so I can't give you an operational review yet but I can't imagine why there would be any problems as long as I follow directions and use the right green to brown ratio in my compost pile. Both the compost tumbler and 'rain barrel' portion are larger than I'd pictured in my head, so that's a plus. My guess is that I'll want to put the entire unit up on cinder blocks and a small wood-framed platform to get the water spigot up from ground level, but perhaps it will turn out I'm wrong about that. We'll see. I'm very pleased with the product at this point.

Looks good from Dover, AR on 08/16/2014 – Verified Buyer
Looks good. We haven't made much compost yet, but seems to work great. Easy to roll....even my 5 year old can roll it. Rain doesn't collect on top like others had said; maybe they need more of a sloped area??
