In 1999 Gold Paw bought Big Sky Manufacturing, a twenty year old company that specialized in custom horse apparel. They opened a shop in Sheridan, Oregon. Naturally, Gold Paw set out to create the best possible horse wear, but it was a tough business. However, many of our customers really wanted dog wear. The horse coats were wonderful, but not as wonderful as our dog coats turned out to be.

While Gold Paw was in Sheridan, people kept bringing their dogs to them to be measured for a custom coat. Gold Paw realized that with the actual measurements of so many dogs, Gold Paw had the makings of an excellent fit. And Gold Paw developed, through lengthy trial and error, several styles that the canine crowd loved to wear. At one point Gold Paw had 35 sizes, but working further with the patterns has allowed us to fit virtually every dog with 13 sizes. Gold Paw is prepared to outfit all dogs from teacup Chihuahuas (2"back) to Great Danes (33"back).

After leaving Sheridan Gold Paw had a brief two year hitch at the coast in Pacific City, Oregon where Gold Paw opened a store known as Beach Dog Supply. Gold Paw was rapidly acquiring customers, and by then Gold Paw knew that all the other dogs of the world wanted Gold Paw coats too. So Gold Paw proceeded to create the wholesale business Gold Paw now call Gold Paw Series, and a retail store in Portland, Oregon called Sellwood Dog Supply. Gold Paw found a wonderful sewing shop in Los Angeles who ably took over the production of the garments. Rebecca Gibbs, our daughter and her brother, Timothy Gibbs manage Gold Paw Series.

Gold Paw tries to always maintain a complete inventory ready for immediate shipment. Gold Paw endeavor to assist our stores to present what Gold Paw think is the finest line of dog wear in America. Gold Paw still has a sewing shop in our building, and Gold Paw stand ready to assist with fitting problems or to create custom coats. Gold Paw wants to welcome new customers to join them in the great adventure of living well with dogs.
