People in the late 1800's were much like we are today. Folks needed their rest after a long day's work. Good sleep has always been the goal for centuries. But a really comfortable mattress? That was a fairly novel idea back in times when mattresses were mostly known as "lumpy". Gold Bond changed that standard, and started a future filled with happy, well-rested customers.
By the end of World War II, Gold Bond was delivering mattresses throughout the East, adding prestigious establishments, leading universities and posh hotels to their clientele. By then, the company had been blending its own cotton for 30 years and a "GOLD BOND" mattress had become an essential bedroom centerpiece. The quality was obvious to fussy homemakers. The comfort was welcomed by weary executives and hardworking tradesmen.
In time the company's contract and retail business continued to grow. People knew the Gold Bond name, so they demanded it. Quality and comfort were always being refined. By now steel innerspring technologies were dominating, yet Gold Bond's pure cotton and hand-made features were beginning to stand alone.
Today, Gold Bond is not only known as a superior quality leader in the mattress industry, it is also world renowned for making the finest futon mattresses. And for starting something entirely new, the modern futon.
My New Old Friend !

I purchased this futon mattress to replace the Gold Bond I purchased some 20 years ago. It arrived in perfect condition within 2 days from placing the order & was delivered right to my front door. This mattress is a little firmer than my old one but after laying on it for a few minutes to give it the tooshie test, I could feel it conforming to my body shape. My weekend guests will be --- Oh so comfy again ! The cover material is strong, it is sewn with heavy upholstery thread & has plenty of thick padding that will again last many years. I would highly recommend this product for every night use, as a guest bed or long comfy naps !
Sleeping so much better

Based on the other reviews, I went with this wool+cotton mattress and I'm quite happy with my choice. The room I sleep in has poor air circulation and always tends towards the warm side. During warm months when the AC is on is always warmer than the rest of the house, and during cold months when the heat is running it seems to accumulate heat and gets a little too warm. This new mattress seems to 'breathe' better than my old one, so I can stay nice and cool at night. I'm sleeping soooo much better on this than I was on the old one I replaced. Very happy!
Very Nice with a Great Price!

I installed this on a colonial-era rope bed last night. Slept like a baby and noticed the leg pain I usually woke with had gone away. Yes, its very firm, exactly what I was looking for. If you are used to coil spring mattress you may not like the old style. I feel very fortunate that this type mattress is still available, the cotton and wool fill smells wonderful.I do not know how a quality item like this is available so affordably but thanks to Wayfair it arrived Fed Ex with free shipping. The mattress is 2 inches shy of 75 length of a normal Full which was perfect for the Shorty colonial bed, something to be aware of. I am going to order another for a Twin bed while they are still available.
Best bed ever!!!!!

So, my husband and I bought a S3a1y set (bed and box spring) for $800+, and it started sagging in the middle after only one year. We started sleeping on his old WoolWrap mattress that he bought about 10 years ago and had used for four years (college) - we got a 1 1/2 inch memory foam topper, and it was AWESOME. No more rolling into each other, no more sore backs, etc. We slept on it for about 2 years... and THEN... I got pregnant, and was perfectly comfortable on this setup for the entire pregnancy! One of the best things about sleeping on a good futon is that it doesn't bounce around when there is movement on the bed - so me having to do my 8-pt roll-over at 8 months or getting out of bed multiple times to use the bathroom didn't even phase my sleeping husband. We discovered we are a co-sleeping family w/ that baby arrival, and soon after realized we needed a bigger bed. We immediately looked online, crossing our fingers that this exact same mattress would be available, and IT WAS!!! We ordered a king sized version for a fraction of what a mattress set would cost, and Wayfair delivered the exact day they estimated it would be here. We also got a 1 1/2 inch memory foam topper. We love love love this mattress, and totally recommend it to everyone.

This particular type of futon mattress is not doused in flame retardants the way your regular twin mattress would be. I wrapped it in an waterproof mattress protector and put regular twin sheets on it and my four year old has been using it in the bottom bunk of the girls' room for two years without complaint. It's firm, but it fits a twin well and is hopefully healthier for her to spend 10-12 hours a night breathing on.
8' WoolWrap Futon Mattress.

Great circulation when sleeping on it. No clammy feeling under the covers! The thing is heavy but manageable by one healthy adult fellow with some directional assistance from some one. Wish it had some handles to assist in carrying it but hey for the money its an awesome value. The all natural aspect is healthful as well. Aired it out for a day before placing it on bed, don't really think it needed that airing. Sleeping comfy as can be. yes its tufted but that leads to better sleeping. I highly recommend this to any one seeking an exit from the ills of foam and synthetics, memory or otherwise!
Great cozy bed for our 4-yr old,

Little large for the guy now, but he is SO happy to be off his old lowered crib. The mattress was in perfect shape when it got to us, very high quality. A little firm for my personal taste, but EXACTLY what we were looking for. No regrets.

We really like our new foam woolwrap futon. It's firm but not to hard. Very little odor right out of the bag which is not our experience with other futons. I don't see how we could have found a better mattress at any price.

I am so happy with my new futon. I am sleeping sooo much better. I previously had the same wool futon and it lasted me for 20 years, so I know I will have this for a long time. I live in Hawaii and it is true what they say that it stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I would reccommend this futon to anyone who is looking for a futon that will last them for a long time. Also, it is great that Wayfair ships to Hawaii and the shipping cost was very reasonable.
