I have to admit, you get a little jaded in today's information age. My three year old OXO stainless steel knife set (back in the day highly rated by consumer reports) was not holding up well. Additionally, it had never had a proper sized Santoku (although it's smaller Santoku is still good for small diameter cutting). I did a decent amount of research and decided this knife set was the way to go. The difference is stark. The knives clearly aren't cheap, even if the knife block is bamboo laminate on wood. The knives are well balanced and cut beyond my expectations. I even tackled some old winter squash and got some very clean and low effort chopping on them even though they were tough from being stored all winter. I knew going in that the knives are not dishwasher safe, and that was expected. I expect they will last many years with proper care.

This product is used every day in my kitchen.The knives are sharp and comfortable to handle.I am disappointed they cannot be put in the dishwasher.

I love this set! I got it for christmas and couldn't wait to use them. They are sharper and feel better than the Henckels set I have (although it was a lower end Henckels). They came out of the box super sharp and I have used them everyday without the need to hone them (although I give them a quick kiss with the honing rod before each use...just habit). I love the bolster on these. Very smooth transition from the handle to the bolster. If I could change one this it would be the block itself. I love the look of the bamboo, I just don't like that the knives put straight up instead of at an angle. It makes storage under a cabinet impossible without tilting the block everytime. Other than that I have no problems. Get this set...you wont be dissapointed!

So far, no complaints. I've used much more costly knife sets in the past and this set offers so much more value than anything I've ever used. Very well constructed. People see the "Ginsu" name and immediately think cheap, but that definitely isn't the case with this set. Can't go wrong with this.

Good feel and weight to the knives, and very sharp. Very good value for the money. I suppose how they last over time will be the real test, but after a few months I'm still quite happy with the purchase.

The knives have worked beautifully so far even though they don't get harsh use. They perfrom flawlessly in contrast to the old knives i used before. The steak knives ensure that i dont have to use the knives from the generic utensil set. Good quality for the price.
