We have a small home and don't have extra room for a playpen for our 7 month old. We decided to put the gate on her room so that she can play safely there and we can know that she won't be crawling down the hall. The gate is superior to the others I looked at in both construction and design. It installed fairly easily as well. The only drawback is that the latch system which is great at keeping her in can be difficult for me to operate at times, especially when holding her or other items.
