We got this gate to separate the upstairs and downstairs in a non-standard corner staircase. The flexibility of the design, and the ease of installation are two of the best features of this gate, and were as advertised. The gate opens and closes flawlessly, simply by walking through and letting it return to closed position. We have a well behaved pooch that wouldn't try to push past a closed gate, and we really got the gate to keep our Kitten of destruction downstairs when we leave the house. We installed this gate at the top of our stairs about a month ago. It has given me great peace of mind with a crawling baby, and an active toddler niece that comes to visit often. It was a little tricky to install in our particular situation because it had to fit underneath the stair handrail, and attach to a round wooden railing on the other side. We had to screw a 1" by 2" board into the railing post, then attach the gate to the board. It worked beautifully and is very sturdy. We had a hard time finding a gate that was short enough and wide enough, and this one is perfect! The only complaint I have is that there isn't a stop to keep it from opening too wide and smacking the wall behind it. We stuck a little felt piece on the wall to protect it, but the kids keep peeling it off. Also, the gate doesn't always latch if you just swing it lightly closed. You have to bang it pretty hard, so if the big kids are opening and closing it a lot it tends to be a bit noisy/annoying. I love that it is a little tricky to open because it also does a great job of keeping my 3 1/2 year old out of the basement. If you have a child 4 or 5 years old that you WANT to be able to open and close the gate, I don't recommend this one. It takes a bit of hand strength to hold in the buttons. It took me a few tries to figure it out. My 6 year old has a hard time with it, but can manage. My 8 year old can use it easily. The quality and construction are very impressive. The box was totally trashed when it arrive in the mail. I thought for sure it would have broken the gate after looking at the mangled box. But the gate didn't have a scratch on it and has worked perfectly."..."  Read more

I use this gate to keep my 4 dogs contained... I have 3 kids that open and close the gate constantly. This gate was super easy ti instll.with easy dvd instructions. It closes itself and is sturdy. The gate is easy enough for my 6 year old to open. It is clean looking and serves it's purpose. When I need another gate, I will definately purchase the same one!"..."  Read more
