Bought this gate to replace a self closing gate that was a bear to get closed. This gate installs easily. The tension knobs are larger than my previous gate and are easier to tighten. The lower knobs line up with my baseboard moulding giving the gate more stability. My previous gates tension knobs all landed on sheetrock and the gate constantly shifted and had to be releveled. One hand is all it takes to lift the latch to open and close it again. It is a gentle motion so the gate doesn't shift as my other tension gate did. I absolutely love it and Wayfair had the best price of any other supplier and they had sent me a 20% coupon that I got to use. Yeah!!"..."  Read more

This gate was a suprise. I'm an interior designer. I have never been able to find a gate that looks great and functions great. This gate is awesome. [...] The gate is decorative and very durable. The only thing that was different from the picture shown was the lock or latch. The gate I received had a latch that flips up over the top of the gate. Their is some give and it can make a clanking noise if your dog scratches the gate like mine does daily. It is however completely secure and is the nicest gate I've ever purchased."..."  Read more

We got this wide gate to keep our baby in the baby-proofed living area and away from the entryway. This product is actually Cardinal's SS-30 gate, 2 BX-2 extensions, and a T bar. We have no problem opening it one-handed, but it can hurt your fingers a little to hold the latch and pull up. It swings quickly and easily out of the way, coming and going. We had several obstacles to installing the gate though. First, the hinge bar used to attach the gate to the extensions did not have screw holes appropriately spaced. I called the company, and they sent another one free of charge, which the man said he would personally drill using the BX-2 extension. We had the same problem with the new one and decided to drill a new hole in the extension. The T bar is meant to stabilize the wide gate assembly on a level floor, and you're supposed to either screw it into your floor or use the provided velcro stripes to adhere it to the floor. Well, we have carpet on one side, which is significantly lower than the tile on the other, and we couldn't have effectively adhered the T bar to the carpet, nor did we want to put a hole in the tile. However, it turned out we didn't need the T bar because this assembly was about an inch too big for our doorway. It will work with a doorway no smaller than 71" apparently. The adventure continued, and I ordered a BX-1 extension, which is about half the width of the BX-2. After a few more days and a game of undo-most-of-your-previous-work, the gate was finally up, and there was much rejoicing. Now we have an extra BX-2 extension to return to Cardinal Gates."..."  Read more

We got this gate to separate the upstairs and downstairs in a non-standard corner staircase. The flexibility of the design, and the ease of installation are two of the best features of this gate, and were as advertised. The gate opens and closes flawlessly, simply by walking through and letting it return to closed position. We have a well behaved pooch that wouldn't try to push past a closed gate, and we really got the gate to keep our Kitten of destruction downstairs when we leave the house. I mention this because I cannot attest to how durable the gate is for a pet intent on getting past the barricade. But for my needs, a thumbs up!"..."  Read more
