Briggs & Riley Baseline Carry-On Wheeled Garment Bag Briggs & Riley
Briggs & Riley Baseline Carry-On Wheeled Garment Bag

4 stars

I can't say enough about the high quality and durability of this Briggs & Riley wheeled garment bag (and the other two B & R bags I own). The outer nylon will never rip, it is armored at the right places, the handles are solid, the interior fabric is sturdy, and the zippers are second to none. This bag has enough capacity to hold 3 suits, 3 shirts, socks, underwear, tee shirts etc. for 3 days, and have a little room left over for an optional clothing item or two. The inside liner has a dedicated tie slot, and various mesh and non-mesh pouches. Two button-on pouches that fit in the otherwise unused space above the garments' shoulders help maximize space. I can get 3 pairs of underwear in one and 3 pairs of socks in the other. The bag rolls easily and fits in an overhead compartment. The outside pocket has a handy easy-access slot-like pouch inside in which to keep cosmetics/fluids that need to be quickly removed for security, and there's ample room next to it to fit one of: a folded light jacket, or a couple of files, or a magazine and a laptop (use a padded sleeve, there's no padding in the outer pocket of the bag) or even, in a pinch, an extra pair of shoes. The bag has one drawback: when unfolded, it is about 2-3" too short to accommodate my suit jackets (46 regular) when they are placed on hangars. The bottom edges of the suits have to be folded back on themselves, and the result after traveling all day is wrinkles. I tried hangars with very short necks, but it still left an inch or so of overlapping suit at the bottom. I nearly sent the bag back, but I was so impressed by its obvious quality that I played around with it until I discovered it will (just) accommodate my suit jackets if I carefully lay them out with NO hangars and use the built-in garment holder straps to secure them in place. This actually works quite well--my suits arrive unwrinkled--but it adds a couple of extra minutes to packing and unpacking. When the bag is folded up, the problem dimension becomes width, not length, so I think Briggs & Riley could have designed the bag to avoid this problem while still meeting carry-on size limitations. A certain other high-end bag manufacturer does, in fact, make a rolling carry-on garment bag that is just about 2" wider than this one. If you are taller than me (5"11), or about my size and don't want to hassle with the careful folding of your suits when you pack, I suggest you look at that bag. A normal-sized woman, or man 5'9" or less, could use this bag with no problem. If not for the slightly-short unfolded length, I'd give this bag 5 stars."..." Read more

Wally Bags 60" Gown Length Garment Bag Wally Bags
Wally Bags 60" Gown Length Garment Bag

This is a very durable garment bag that is great for carrying women's formal wear (gowns, coats, etc.) for car, train or airplane travel. The unique hanger system in the bag is very durable, as is the bag material. Unlike the cheap garment bags you get from the store that sold you the dress, this bag will last. It is spacious and the length is great for floor-length dresses. Besides being easy to hang, the bag is also easily foldable. This was especially helpful when the planes I was on did not have closet space and I had to put the bag in the overhead compartment. The only negative - and it's a small one - is that for a person of small stature, the bag is awkward to carry, especially through airports. I had to fold it over my arm, and it's a bit bulky and floppy that way. Worth nothing that this is not an all-inclusive garment bag for carrying your entire wardrobe - it doesn't have pockets and such. But great for those few pieces of formalwear that are too delicate or long for the suitcase. But I needed a garment bag for floor-length formal wear to travel with in a pinch, and this bag came through big time! Will definitely be hanging onto it and using it again and again."..." Read more

U.S. Traveler Koskin Leather 2-in-1 Carry-On Garment Duffel Bag in Black U.S. Traveler
U.S. Traveler Koskin Leather 2-in-1 Carry-On Garment Duffel Bag in Black

I bought this U.S. Traveler garment bag to replace my husband's old canvas suit bag, but the description of a "2-in-1" garment duffel bag is a little deceiving. It's NOT a bag that can double as either a tote bag where you can throw in a bunch of loose items or use it as a garment bag, it's strictly a garment bag. But instead of folding in half and zipping flat, it has flaps in the center that zip around to turn it into the shape of a duffel, making it easier to carry by the handles or the detachable shoulder strap. The shape also gives you the choice of storing it in an overhead bin or stowing it under your seat on a plane. The "leather" is manmade, but durable and not at all cheap looking. One it's zipped up, the center has a lined compartment to fit in shoes, and it has are some convenient exterior pockets for tickets, papers, etc. As long as you know ahead of time that it can't double as a traditional tote bag but it's only for shirts, suits, etc., it's a great bag!"..." Read more

Wally Bags 66" Gown Length Destination Bag in Black Wally Bags

I travel between cities each week. And theres nothing more embarrassing to me than showing up somewhere (hotel, friends house, special event, etc.) with my clothes packed in those clear clothing bags you get after a purchase at department stores. Its just not a very polished look, nor is it as functional as this tri-fold garment bag. I can pack about a weeks worth of clothes in this jewel and still have room to throw in a few pairs of heels and a couple of small clutch purses. The reviews are spot on about this bag accommodating long formal gowns too! This bag is very generous on space and smart with utility. Folds and secures effortlessly. Thank goodness for the carrying handle and shoulder strap! I tend to overpack and this bag can get heavy!"..." Read more
