My expectations weren't very high....
Stephanie from Tennessee – Verified Buyer
Basically I wanted a couple of low bookshelves that would last a few years until I could afford to upgrade to something more amazing. I bought two of these to go in a guest room that is seldom used, so I was OK with just okay. I was wrong. I should have sent the boxes back immediately after opening, but I convinced myself that it would suffice, and I hate returning products. First, the screws that hold the shelves in place screw in from the outside, so there is no way to hide the mechanism of assembly. Each side of the bookshelf displays all eight screws. And yes, that means that the shelves are NOT adjustable. Second, this was the cheapest veneer work I have ever seen. The particle board edges basically crumbled in my hand. I managed to hide the worst of it, but some spots are just obvious. Never in my life have I had to magic-marker in worn looking spots on brand new furniture. After I tacked on the pressboard backing, I realized that the tiny, tiny nails that had been provided made the edges of the side bow out. It was immediately obvious to me that these would not fly, even as temporary room decor. I have considered disassembling and returning these two eyesores, but I found a use for them-- tucked into a closet as shoe and purse storage. Essentially I didn't expect a lot from these cheap shelves, but what I ended up with was a fairly expensive way to line up my shoes. I'm giving these 1.5 stars, which I rounded up to two simply because they do actually look okay in my closet and function well as shelves.
Poor quality bookcase
Judy from Santa Rosa, CA – Verified Buyer
Bought two of these bookcases to augment storage in a small apartment. Buyer beware: these are made of particle board and,,while inexpensive, are still a poor value. I have assembled a lot of furniture, and am skilled at it. I also have my own tools, and I used a small dremmel-type driver to assemble this. The unit came pre-drilled, a necessity since it is particle board. Still, on each unit, at least one screw ripped through the outer veneer during assembly. And I was extremely careful during assembly. The shelves are just too narrow, and the materials just too flimsy, for this to come together well. Once assembled, we were able to hide the dings, but the unit itself will not hold much weight at all. We ended up using one in a bathroom to store towels and toilet paper, and the other in a corner of the livingroom to hold display items and photos, since it can't sustain the weight of books. Save your money, buy something sturdier. Pros: Very inexpensive. Cons: Flimsy, poor quality, particle board
I like it so far.

Its made of pretty cheap materials but I think it will get the job done. I wanted a bookshelf that wouldnt take up all of my wall so this fits perfectly. My sister and I put this together and used a power took instead of a screw driver. I can be done with one but we are weak links. The only negative I would have to say is the back of the bookshelf is like a trifold piece of faux wood taped together (literally) that you nail to the structure. I know it probably wont last for a long long time but it will do for now to hold the books I have. Besides I couldnt pass up this deal.
Cheaply made but good for the money
Amanda from Ogden, UT – Verified Buyer
I assembled this by myself and I made a few errors in hammering the nails into the back. The instructions for assembly were quite tedious. I didn't like how it wasn't clear where to hammer the piece of cardboard onto the back so I hammered a few nails right through it on accident. I am also not very handy so that could be the problem. Luckily the nails went through on the inside of the bookcase where not easily visible. For the price, it wasn't worth it to get another one. Its also a lot smaller than I had imagined but it will work for now!
Bookcase (Mock TV stand)
stephanie from louisville, KY – Verified Buyer
Perfect size and design. Wish the shelves could hold more weight but for the price it is ideal. I've decided to use mine as a TV stand for my small TV in my bedroom and its perfect; I love it!! Very successful purchase. Note to future buyers: when putting this together make sure that all of your screws and nails are going straight into the pieces. If not they will come out and cause the surface to bubble.
Light & Convenient Bookcase
Tanya from Pasadena, CA – Verified Buyer
The bookcase was a bit tricky to assemble, but overall, its light and easy to use, not to mention its fairly priced (especially for college students like me!) One great feature of this product is that sizing of the shelves and the height of the overall bookcase. I would recommend this product to anyone who wishes to purchase a bookcase thats budget friendly, easy to assemble, and stores adequately in a small dorm room.
pretty good bookcase, but not the best construction
Elizabeth from Bellingham, WA – Verified Buyer
I needed a cheap bookcase and that is exactly what I got. my main complaint is that the screw holes were more like tiny notches, making it harder to put together than most pre-fab furniture I've bought Pros: quick shipping and assembly Cons: pieces didn't fit quite right, no ability to adjust the shelf size,
perfect for closet organization
Gretchen from Suisun city, CA – Verified Buyer
Reading the other reviews, I wasn't expecting a whole lot as far as quality. But these are just fine. Sturdy enough for big books. I bought 3 and used them to line the inside of our guest closet to organize books and other misc. Stuff. Quite satisfied with the look and the amount of stuff they hold- a lot of large books! Very easy to put together!
Nice enough bookcase..
Araby from Caledonia, OH – Verified Buyer
Definitely got what I paid for. I just needed a basic bookcase to put little odds and ends on, and this does the trick. It was not too difficult to put together but the back was incredibly cheap, like poster board material. I ended up leaving it off but otherwise no issues.
Good "bargain" shelves
Elise from America – Verified Buyer
These shelves look great but upon closer inspection you can see that they are rather flimsy and very much a "bargain" shelf. You get what you pay for. Still, they're study enough to hold all my books and the black color looks good.
