I have recently received a set of cast-iron pans from Wayfair stores to review. The set includes 3 cast iron skillets with varying sizes, a 6.5", an 8.5" and a 10.5". Since receiving these I have been able to use all three skillets numerous times. The very first thing that I cooked was fried eggs. Well, let me rephrase that, I tried to cook fried eggs. I can't do them very well. Of course, we all like our eggs sunny-side up in my house, and I am not good at making them without breaking the yolks. So I don't count this first meal because I broke the yolks and messed up my whole family's meal of eggs. But every other meal that I have cooked in these skillets have turned out wonderful! I want to replace all of my other pans, pots and skillets now with cast iron. Cleaning them is a breeze! I've only had one meal that stuck so much that it was diffucult to clean and that meal sticks to all of my pans. I even tried a couple of new meals in these skillets and they turned out great. The only thing that I didn't get to try before my review was baking something in these. The reason I didn't get to was that my element went out in my oven and I haven't been able to replace it. One of the best parts about this set of cast iron skillets is that it came pre-seasoned. Since I've never owned cast iron before, I had no idea how to season cast iron. With this, I didn't even have to worry about it! Clean up is easy. I clean it with a clean wash rag and hot water. After it completely dries, I wipe it down with a tiny bit of canola oil and it's done! I am a HUGE fan of Nordic Ware products. They truly are superior to others I have tried. They are a "Green" company & I highly encourage all to look into the process how they elimanate the use of poisonous chemicals from their coating, unlike other companies with nonstick. You can't go wrong with Nordic Ware and their items will last such a long time even with daily use. Our son loves to make pancakes but I hate having to clean up after him. I bought this for him so he could have his very own pancake pan to cook with. These are the perfect size for everyone and has encouraged him to clean up after cooking. The pan only needs a wipe down to remove any crumbs on the edges. Nothing more.The pancakes slide right off the pan onto the plate. NOTHING sticks to this pan and despite my thoughts of uneven cooking, every pancake circle cooked even & perfect. I even gave him a wood spatula to use with it for preventing scratches. I bought this 9.5" pan just to see if I could cook eggs as well as my antique cast iron pans. Yes,it does scrambled eggs and omletts perfectly. Cooked breaded pork chops just right the other night with no sticking. Very important to season the pan exactly as instructed with the included directions.I would use only olive oil for seasoning. I use only olive or peanut oil for frying. Use low to med.heat for best results. Pans arn't as heavy as cast iron for weaker wrists. Very durable though. Cleanup with simple deglazing and rinse with hot water only. No soap needed and towel dry. Wonderful nonstick characteristics. Will last a lifetime. I intend to buy other sizes. Thrilled to find this set of 2 Calphalon Omelet pans. Nice big deep ones, with smooth slopping sides, for easilly slipping food onto a plate. Solid Handles, with no heat transfer, you can pick them up without burning your hand. We had been looking for several months for a couple of nice large 10" and 12" skillets. My husband always fries his potatoes in the largest, and his eggs in the smaller one. Every morning. for 22.5 years, we are on our 4th set of pans. Teflon coating doesn't last, the handles are coming loose. We began looking on line, especially pans that were made in America. Found them on your site. [...] followed good instructions for using them. They are wonderful. Our other skillets nice lids fit them just fine,they were on a great sale. Two of them for less than One would have cost separately. Thanks so much for providing this service. We don't live close enough to a large city no cookware store.
