Universal Housewares Three Piece Skillet Set (6.5", 8.5", 10.5")

I have recently received a set of cast-iron pans from Wayfair stores to review. The set includes 3 cast iron skillets with varying sizes, a 6.5", an 8.5" and a 10.5". Since receiving these I have been able to use all three skillets numerous times. The very first thing that I cooked was fried eggs. Well, let me rephrase that, I tried to cook fried eggs. I can't do them very well. Of course, we all like our eggs sunny-side up in my house, and I am not good at making them without breaking the yolks. So I don't count this first meal because I broke the yolks and messed up my whole family's meal of eggs. But every other meal that I have cooked in these skillets have turned out wonderful! I want to replace all of my other pans, pots and skillets now with cast iron. Cleaning them is a breeze! I've only had one meal that stuck so much that it was diffucult to clean and that meal sticks to all of my pans. I even tried a couple of new meals in these skillets and they turned out great. The only thing that I didn't get to try before my review was baking something in these. The reason I didn't get to was that my element went out in my oven and I haven't been able to replace it. One of the best parts about this set of cast iron skillets is that it came pre-seasoned. Since I've never owned cast iron before, I had no idea how to season cast iron. With this, I didn't even have to worry about it! Clean up is easy. I clean it with a clean wash rag and hot water. After it completely dries, I wipe it down with a tiny bit of canola oil and it's done! Wayfair gave me these skillets to use for free and keep for writing a review that is my own honest opinion."..." Read more

I bought this 9.5" pan just to see if I could cook eggs as well as my antique cast iron pans. Yes,it does scrambled eggs and omletts perfectly. Cooked breaded pork chops just right the other night with no sticking. Very important to season the pan exactly as instructed with the included directions.I would use only olive oil for seasoning. I use only olive or peanut oil for frying. Use low to med.heat for best results. Pans arn't as heavy as cast iron for weaker wrists. Very durable though. Cleanup with simple deglazing and rinse with hot water only. No soap needed and towel dry. Wonderful nonstick characteristics. Will last a lifetime. I intend to buy other sizes. Very pleased and no PTFE coatings.I have not used the pan to sear anything yet. Chas."..." Read more

Berndes Signocast 13" Skillet Berndes

I jumped on this a while back. I wanted a large pan (i have 8": and 11" from berndes as well) because when you cook a family dinner, u rather have it all done in one pan instead of 2-3 pans. This is a true frying pan, it's very wide, shallow (less than 2 inches deep), therefore it cooks/frys on the surface instead residual heat as other narrower/deeper pans would do.Last night, we had 3 pounds of shrimp in this pan in scampi sauce. all fit in 1 layer, and 12 minutes later we had a gourmet dinner. linguini and shrimp scampi. The pan has been used for omelettes, caramelizing onions for frech onion soup, grilling burgers (dont add soil, 4 min per side, they are awesome), cooking breakfast sausages, and frying fish fillets in floor. all were winners! It's very well made. the non-stick surface has several layers, so other brands that sell u non-stick for [$], have 1 layer, and not cast. so, the heat will not be even and it will start pilling off after few month!i highly recomend this :)"..." Read more

Kinetic Classicor 12" Covered Chicken Fryer Kinetic

The Kinetic Classicor 12 inch Chicken Fryer has an extra handle on the other side of the long handle to help you stabilize whatever it is you're carrying in the pan. Which it's a good thing there is the extra handle on the other side because the chicken fryer is deep. With super hot food inside, I bet it's heavy. I haven't measured it myself but I would imagine that it's probably 3 inches deep, maybe more but I don't really know because I'm not great at measurements. I do know that it's about as deep as my middle finger is long, a little deeper. The Kinetic Classicor 12 inch chicken fryer is shiny and new and so pretty. I love how the pan is of a decent weight without being too heavy or feeling like a cheap pan. I've seen some of the el chepo pans out on the market and they feel like reinforced aluminum foil. My mom has a VERY pricey chicken fryer that looks a whole lot like the one that I just bought from Wayfair but her chicken fryer weighs a whole lot. I would not be surprised if it weighed at least 6 to 8 pounds. With NOTHING in it! The Kinetic Classicor 12 inch chicken fryer? A few pounds. Maybe somewhere close to three pounds? I received this product to try in exchange for sharing my honest opinion."..." Read more
