My twin son is 18 months, and a big climber. We needed a lower mattress to prevent him from jumping out of the crib too early. He is very athletic--even though the crib is on the lowest setting. Every inch counts for us. Eventually, we will get crib tents, but didn't want them at 18 months! With twins, we need to keep them in their cribs as long as possible.
