Floor Muffler Nontraditional floor application
Kyle from Alabama
Atypical application for wood flooring. After removing an old wood floor, I laid a tradition white oak floor nailed down with cleats on top floor. There is a noticeable difference in sound transfer from both impact and sound. I did call Floor Muffler for tech. support as there is little to no info. about whether you can nail through or not. I found the support friendly and prompt. Obviously you loose some sound deadening by nailing through it but it will still works. It is easy to work with. Extra seams can be taped with clear packaging tape and make sure you go up 2 on the wall in which the baseboard will cover anyway
Great product for the price

Same review I gave for the 100 sq ft roll..... I reviewed a number of underlayments and thought this would be best. It was very good - easy to lay down and to attach to next sheet. Has good noise suppression on my engineered hardwood floor. Need to be careful not to tear it with blount/sharp objects, but that wasn't a big problem and I taped the few small holes I made..... I would recommend this and believe it is a good value at the price. Also, the 600 sq ft roll - 72" wide - is more handy for larger areas and it is a little less cost which helps..

There are so many underlayments to choose from it's hard to know which one to pick. From all the research I've done on flooring and DIY message boards, this underlayment is often recommended and is considered a great product by the pros who respond to questions on those sites. So, I felt relieved to know that I got quality as well as a great price from Wayfair. The only thing I didn't like about it is when I tried to use the self sealing tape, it puckered along the seam. So I opted instead to tape the seams myself. It was easier anyway.
unconventional use worked!

I had a different flooring issue. I needed to build up the floor level, reduce the footfall noise and prepare for a 34 hardwood naildown. The floor muffler is the meat in a plywood sandwich. It was easy to work with, has a nice firm resilience, and even though hundreds of screws and well over 2,000 cleats have penetrated the sandwich, the noise reduction is significant.

This product was easy to install and we were pleased with its large width. Also, the underlayment itself makes our floors sound great, without a hollow sound or spongy feeling. Would purchase again.

I put this under 900 sq ft of laminate I installed in upstairs bedrooms. Easy to use, I would recommend the product, especially for the price. My only comment would be that the pink overlapping is supposed to stick to the adhesive strip on a new roll but it doesn't at all. Not a huge issue, just buy duct tape and use that over the seams instead.

This really helps absorb sound under our hardwoods. It went down easily and was a breeze to install. Very happy!
