Cable Crossover Machines: This machine has a cable on both sides. The user is supposed to stand in the middle of the machine and grab each cable. When doing cable crossover exercises, the cables generally are pulled together, in front of your body, to focus on a chest workout.

Core Machines: Exercise machines that only target the core muscles. The core attaches the upper body and the lower body. The abdominals, hips, and back are all considered to be the core. Core gyms may include ab crunch machines, back machines, and hip developers. These gyms use either weight based resistance, body weight resistance, or power rod resistance.

Home Gym Sets: Select this option if the item is a home gym set where there are many positions that can be used at once. This could have at least two unique pieces that can be set up as individual units or one large unit that at least two people could use at once.

Lower Body Machines: Exercise machines that only target muscles in the lower body. Lower body gyms may include leg press machines, calf-raise machines, leg- extension/curl machines, hamstring developers, glute developers. These gyms use either weight based resistance, body weight resistance, or power rod resistance.

Power Racks: The power rack is an open metal cage, with four vertical beams positioned in a square and two horizontal bars on opposing sides of the square which can be placed at differing, but always equal, heights. In contrast to the smith machine, the barbell is not enclosed inside of a metal frame, which allows the weight lifter to have a more natural lift motion.

Power Towers: These free standing towers develop the muscles without weights. This piece of equipment has the ability to give you multiple workout stations for pull-ups, tricep dips, vertical knee raises, etc.

Smith Machines: The smith machine is a piece of equipment designed to provide a strength training workout with the safety of a spotter. The Smith machine consists of a straight bar set in a stationary rack with lock points to prevent the bar from dropping.

Total Body Gyms: Gyms that target muscles in the upper body, lower body and core. These gyms can be used in the home and commercially. These gyms may have multiple stations, and do not focus solely on one muscle group. These gyms use either weight based resistance, body weight resistance, or power rod resistance.

Upper Body Machines: Exercise machines that only target the muscles in the upper body. Upper body gyms include chest press machines, shoulder press machines, lat pull-downs, tricep extension machines, and preacher curl machines. These gyms use either weight based resistance, body weight resistance, or power rod resistance.

Power Rods: Select this if the resistance comes from rods that bend when pulled on, similar to a bow. Bowflex is the most common brand like this.

Weight Stack: Most weight training machines have a cable and pulley system that attach to a weight stack to add weight resistance to workouts. These are different than plated weights, which can be removed completely from the unit and the weights are usually square or rectangular.

Plate Load: Select this option if machine uses weight plates. These are different than weight stacks in that the plates can be removed completely from the machine and the weights are usually round.

Body Weight:It is the only type of resistance that does not require any additional weight or resistance from the exercise machines. Exercises like tricep dips, vertical knee/leg raises, push- ups, dips, pull-ups, lunges and crunches are all examples of body weight resistance. Power Towers & Dip Stations for example enable users to train using their own body resistance.
