All in all, I'm happy with the Dimplex 23" electric fireplace insert. It cheers up our home with a flick of a switch and looks nice. A friend said the insert looks too perfect to be real, but it's probably as good as it gets for an electric insert. The flame does look real to me. In our area there are so many "spare the air days" when it is illegal to burn wood and I'd just as soon have the look without the bother anyway. This fireplace insert does warm up a room that is about 20 x 20 square feet, as I tried in our bedroom to see if it would work as advertised. But we use it mainly in our much larger living room, inside the fireplace. The damper is stuck in the open position so some heat probably out that way. It can probably be fixed. Currently we get warmth only right next to the fireplace. That is acceptable because the floor plan is open and the living room has a high cathedral ceiling, several huge glass windows, and a sliding glass door to outside. So even a real fire is not likely to warm up this type of room. The Duraflame logs we used to use did not. I'm noting this so readers will have realistic expectations for ambiance but not much heat in a large room with much opportunity for heat to escape. I bought this fireplace 7 yrs ago thru a ladys company on e-bay for 1500.00 .This yr my Fireplace insert stopped working.I had to start using my Electric Baseboard which is so much more money to heat my Apt.Last yr my heat bill using my fireplace was 35.00 each month.This last month I paid 66.89 for a month.Now i will have my fireplace working on saturday.I have to get some help to move it out to put it in.Anyone who buys this they will be happy they did.I love my FirePlace...Pinkie"..."  Read more

We purchased the fireplace insert just for the Ambience.We saw one last year at a big box store and decided to buy one this year, but they stopped handling it.Instead they had a cheap Chinesse knock off that cost more then the Dimplex. We found it online at wayfair a lot cheaper and the delivery was much faster then they had promised.We are very happy with it and extremely pleased with wayfair.The heater does a fair job as the room the firelace is rather large and open.The fireplace it is in is a heatalator metal box with heat runs built in to the walls with fans. I like the looks of a fire, but tired of fooling with the fire wood,keeping it lit and cleaning up the ash.This is just perfect and it has fooled the dog.She just cant understand why the fire behind the glassdoors isnt hot.Just buy it,You will love it, it looks so real.
