The Fagor Pressure Cooker from SAINT PETERSBURG, FL on 04/30/2015 – Verified Buyer
Fagor in Spain is like General Dynamics in the US - a huge industrial conglomerate. Their "Commercial" (and similar "Splendid") model pressure cooker has a substantial heft to it and seems ready to withstand the rigors of the kitchen. An aluminum heat dispersion disc, completely encapsulated in stainless steel, is bonded to the bottom of the thick-walled stainless steel pot. The stainless steel lid is similarly substantial, and is polished to a mirror finish. The handles seen sturdy enough, although they are plastic and subject to damage. An order form for replacement parts is provided in the box and parts are available over the Internet ([...] An instruction booklet is incluye, imperfectly translated from the Spanish. An 80-page recipe book is also included, with full color photographs of fabulous dishes, several of which cannot be prepared in the cooker(!).

The regulator control dial on this unit has three positions: Pressurized (15 psi), open, and remove valve. The lid has a safety interlock that prevents it from being opened while the pot is pressurized, and a small plastic rod pops up to indicate the interlock is active. (One reviewer suggested this rod indicates the pot has reached 15 psi, but this is not so; you know the pot has reached 15 psi when steam starts to escape from the regulator valve.) Another safety feature is a slot in the lid that allows part of the gasket to blow out if the pot has been over-filled.

I was attracted to this model pressure cooker because it seemed to represent an attractive price-performance point. My experience has confirmed that. The value of a second, low pressure setting is arguable for all but the most dedicated pressure cooker users, and fancy features like a pressure gauge seem minimally useful. If I were to buy another pressure cooker, I would likely select this model again, albeit in an 8-qt version to compliment the 4-qt size that seemed the best size for this bachelor cook.

Great product from Wichita, KS on 02/19/2015 – Verified Buyer
I have been using a pressure cooker for at least 25 years. I am quite happy with the safety features on this unit. I also like the size. I use it for everything from chicken to veggies to beans. I have a very old Cuisinart stovetop model and a DUO seven in one electric pressure cooker. Yes, this is my third pressure cooker and I use them all. Truthfully, I bought this as a replacement for my other stove top model because one of the one of these days the seal is going to give out and replacements are no longer available. I highly recommend always buying at least one spare seal for any pressure cooker. I have read a couple reviews stating that the handle is broken off. So far, I've had no problems. I recommend this.

If youre looking for a great pressure cooker, this is it! from United States on 01/12/2014 – Verified Buyer
I bought this pressure cooker after taking an EdX course in molecular cooking. The benefits of faster cooking, moisture retention and ability to brown without drying things out all combine for exceptionally flavorful food. The pot itself is very heavy gauge with a well designed lid and seal system. The built in safety prevents opening the pot when under pressure. It has two pressure settings basically at one half and one full atmosphere (around 7.5 and 15 psi, respectively). At the higher pressure, water boils at about 250 degrees F. The size (8 quarts) is large but necessary if you are making soups or stocks. I think the size is ideal for a very broad range of cooking needs.

Great cooker, love it! from Manasquan, NJ on 06/18/2010 – Verified Buyer
I work forty hours a week, and want to prepare great food in less time. I've been thinking about a pressure cooker for quite a while, and thought it would be a great addition to the tools in my kitchen.

I have been thrilled with this pressure cooker so far. I did a test run with just water, which was very helpful in learning to operate it. It's very easy, and not scary at all! So far I have made sauerbraten, sweet & sour cabbage, and baked beans. Previously my beans took 5 1/2 hours cooking time. With the pressure cooker, a mere 55 minutes! That's a winner for me right there. I got the 8 quart size because I wanted to cook everything from a couple of servings of vegetables to a large piece of beef.

I like the fact that I can brown the meat in the pressure cooker, and then cook in the same pan. Some recipes say you don't have to brown the meat first, but it's so much better when you do! And no extra pan to clean, which my dishwashing husband appreciates immensely.

Now, you WILL have prep time for your foods, and you need to have all the right ingredients on hand, of course. But you need that with any meal you are preparing. For example, it took me about 15 minutes to prep all of the ingredients for the sweet & sour cabbage, but only four minutes to cook it.

You will not be disappointed with the performance of this pressure cooker. It will streamline your meal preparation, and is a great addition to your kitchen. Prior to buying it I purchased a pressure cooker cook book, and that's been invaluable in helping me to learn the best wasy to use a pressure cooker. I'm looking forward to using it every week, and tonight I'm planning to bake a cheesecake in it!

Great pressure cooker! from Eloy, AZ on 12/31/2015 – Verified Buyer
I received my pressure cooker today; the shipping was fast. The products box was torn on the side, but in no way was the pressure cooker damaged. I used it today took me a bit to get the hang of it; it being my first stove top pressure cooker. I cooked some whole potatoes which came out fabulous. I got the fagor duo 10 quart and it works well on an induction burner.

Great price, gets the job done! from Boulder, CO on 06/16/2015 – Verified Buyer
I'm still learning how to use it, but I've successfully made rice, pulled chicken, and bone broth. May have overdone the lentils but probably read the instructions incorrectly. The size is great and quality is fantastic. Definitely recommend.
