Espresso Machines

Ive been very pleased with the espresso this machine produces and with the steamerfrother unit. Its also quite easy to use and to clean. I have, however, two relatively minor quibbles. First, the manufacturer used cheap, smelly plastic for the water tank, so to avoid having espresso with a chemical taste you need to fill the tank just before starting the brewing process. Second, the stalactite-style tamper attached to the machine is essentially useless, because you cant tamp with the appropriate pressure without simultaneously lifting up on the filter holder with one hand and holding the machine down with the other. If you buy this machine, youll probably want to invest in a 52 mm tamper, which is available online from various retailers. Despite these quibbles, Im quite happy with my purchase and would recommend this machine to others. My mother in law arrived from Italy last week and the only thing she'll drink is a Starbuck's machiato and not our single cup coffee, so I went to various stores to try to find a "real" espresso machine. A true steam pressure driven espresso machine is around $800, so I thought I would try this one and return it if I didn't like it. Nespesso machine with the built in frother was still not that cheap! I just recieved it and it is actually better than coffee boutique espresso, which isn't that hard. I can honestly say it is just like in my wife's hometown, Bolzano (actually Sulla strada del Vino). I'm not crazy about having to buy only from Nespresso, but most Americans aren't that particular about their coffee so there probably isn't much of a market to sell it at say The grocery store. I am so pleased with this espresso machine. I've had it for a few months and I couldn't be happier. It fits perfectly in my galley kitchen and is extremely easy to use. I've saved a ton of time and money by making my own lattes rather than swinging by a coffeshop in the morning. I enjoyed the starter pack that came with the machine as it helped me to narrow down my favorite capsules. Helpful Tip: the Aeroccino has 2 fill lines for milk.
