I have two small dogs. The older one doesn't ride well in the car and bothers the driver and the younger dog (who is trained to ride in a harness). I have used cardboard to keep him from distracting the driver and boxes to keep him from not harming the dog in the harness, but these attempts haven't been completely successful. This product works well in keeping the dog from climbing into the front seat of the Ford Focus. It doesn't work quite as well in the Saturn Ion, where the dog can climb around the sides of the seats into the driver's lap. The separation between the dogs is not strong enough to keep him from climbing over to where the younger dog rides, so I am unable to use the harness with the younger dog when both are in the car."..."  Read more

This is excellent as extra space on a trip! It is strong enough to hold the cooler with drinks and snacks where you can reach them from the front seat with the dog barrier down. I was able to put other things on the floorboards under the bridge. Our English Bulldog is able to get closer to us in the back and it really holds up. He is 70 pounds and it doesn't sag or anything. I have the product installed in my vehicle and it's serving it's purpose, so I'm pleased with it, the only drawback being that it was almost too big for my Subaru outback, but I was able to make it work and it's performing nicely, having had much larger dogs in the past, I've not needed a barrier once my dogs got fully grown, they just usually stayed in the back seat, but we have recently gotten a bit of a smaller dog and I just felt the need to have a protective barrier and it's done nicely.
