Quality, sturdy bed - easy to put together

We ordered this bed for our 4 year old. It is very tall, however, due to space restrictions we needed the six drawers under the bed to replace his dresser. It was easy to put together - I did it on my own - and required minimal tools. As others have mentioned, we did screw down all of the bed slats but I don't know that you would necessarily need to. We just liked the extra security since our son moves around a lot when he sleeps. The drawers work very well. They are hard to remove completely (which I did when putting together) but that will end up being a plus as it makes it that much more difficult for my son to do it. If you get this bed for a young child I highly recommend getting a step stool (one step) and a bed guard rail as it is quite high. Don't let that deter you though as our wild sleeper has had no problems staying in this bed and it is the perfect combination of size (big enough but still fits in the room) and function (serving as a bed and dresser). It will be a bed that will last for a long time.

The bed came in 3 boxes, which seemed small for the size of bed. It took my husband about 1.5-2 hours to put it together. The bed looks really nice. The wood is soft, so I'm not sure that it will look great forever, but we've had it up for 3 months now and it still looks good, despite a couple of minor dings. Our biggest concern is with the trundle face board, which is only held on by 2 screws, one on either side of the bed. You must use the handles to pull out the trundle or I get concerned that the wood will eventually pull out of the screws. If I could change anything about the bed it would be that they could have made the metal frame come up higher so that the outside board on the trundle could screw into 2 places on each side instead of just one.
So Far So Good

I thought I would wait a few months before posting my review. However, after months of shopping in local stores and online, I purchased this product through Wayfair for my 6 year old son in March of 2011. This is my first major (over $100) online purchase and I must admit that I am pleased so far. Assembling the product was rather easy for a "do-it-yourself mom". So easy that when my husband arrived home I had completed the setup by myself. I selected the 6 drawer option because we need storage. The drawers aren't huge, but they are large enough to accomodate clothing, linen or toys. After purchasing a mattress for the bed, the height of the bed is a lot higher than I expected, but it doesn't bother my son at all. The 1 thing that I did not like about the bed is the slats that came with it. They didn't fit properly when the mattress was placed upon them. They couldn't be screwed into the frame and would actually slide off. Consequently, to ensure my son's safety, and give me peace of mind, I purchased a bunkie board to use rather than using the slats.
Great bed! Easy to put together, very functional!

We bought this bed for our sons 3 yr old birthday. He has a very small room and we were looking for a bed that would offer enough storage for us to take out one of his dressers. This bed is perfect for his space. Its a little tall, but he wants to get in all by himself - after 2 days he figured out every possible way to get in by himself. We got the 6 drawer on one side option - to maximize storage - so glad that we did. The drawers slide nicely in and out and offer lots of space for pjs, shirts, sweatshirts, pants, etc. There is an option for adding 6 more drawers on the other side which if we ever move into a bigger house we would buy! The bed came mostly assembled - took my husband and I ten minutes, start to finish to get it together - fits a regular size mattress. We are very pleased with this bed and researched A TON before purchasing. We highly recommend it!

This is an excellent captain's bed. Beautiful wood, sturdy, and just what we were looking for. And, the price was certainly right! Even our son, who is very picky, really likes this bed. I would definitely recommend this bed to anyone looking for a practical and beautiful piece of furniture.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this bed. It is both sturdy and beautiful. It shipped quickly and was easy to assemble.
My kid loves it!

Would have given 5 stars, but the drawers can be easily pulled off their tracks if not pulled exactly straight out. otherwise solid, simple construction. Easy to assemble.

Nice and sturdy real wood! Great solution to fitting 2 young kids into one room with having to do bunk beds. Also super easy to assemeble. My husband spent about 20 minutes on each.
Attractive bed, but not as sturdy as expected.

This bed is very nice looking and is perfect for a child. However, when my husband or I get into the bed to read my son books at night, it feels a little wobbly. I don't know if it would have been less wobbly had I assembled it myself - we paid for the delivery guys to assemble it. Maybe the screws aren't tight enough - I'm not sure - but it is kind of disconcerting. Otherwise, we have no complaints. A 10" high Serta twin mattress fit nicely on top, and we got a 6" foam mattress for the trundle. The drawers and trundle slide in and out nicely. Note that the bed is pretty high, especially with a tall mattress. We got a bed rail to keep our son from falling out, and that has worked out well.

Bed seems stable and well made. Drawers operate easily. Trundle pulls out easily.
