We use this as an extra table in our kitchen. It is a deep rich expresso finish with silver accents and looks modern enough without being too modern. I would not use it for food prep because it looks like the surface would show scratches easily. It sits next to a window in our kitchen and shows dust easily but I don't know that that can be avoided. The stools are a bit uneven-not completely level.
