Works well with reasonable noise level I use this in my large basement to keep the humidity down. My wife quilts in the basement and moisture around her fabrics is bad stuff. This unit has done an excellent job of lowering the moisture levels. It works much better than the unit it replaced. The fan runs constantly which is a bit annoying but at least it's a reasonable sound level. The Wirlpool unit we had was so loud you'd go deaf. This one isn't. We use the continuous drain which was easy to connect and would be easy to revert to the bucket if we ever wanted to. It's well thought out. There's no freezing issue either even with the cooler temperatures of the basement. In fact, since this unit puts off slightly warm air, it helps to heat the basement. |

1st one owned With all the rain we have had & 2 bad winters of snow my basement leaked first time in 7yrs. I need something to help dry it out. This helped fill the bill plus fans. In one day the dehumidifier pulled out 70 pints of moisture,is not loud like a couple of reviews mentioned,I like the controls that tell you temp. & humidity level in the room. I will continue using to make sure moisture doesn't build up in this old basement area because now I don't have the old musty smell in it either. I would buy another one if needed. |

Dehumidifier Performing as Promised After a month or so of operation, I am very pleased with my Danby dehumidifier. It was simple to set up and has made a noticeable improvement in my basement air quality during several rainy/humid weeks. |

No complaints Overall appears to be of high quality and workmanship. [...] I did not have any trouble hooking up the continuous drainage tube. This is replacing my 13 year old 50 quart Sears Kenmore dehumidifier which had simple on/off, high/low switches, and dial in humidity setting, with fan auto shut off when the correct dryness level was reached. This Danby 70 qt is lighter, and has digital controls. The fan is always on unless you turn the unit off, and does blow out hot air when it it dehumidifying (not so for the Kenmore). The Danby recirculates air (not hot air) once the correct humidity is reached. The problem is determining which humidity is right for you, as it changes by 5 %RH units with each click. I started at 60%, then went to 40% (too dry), and now have it set at 50%, low fan. It definitely has very quickly dehumidified the entire basement. I am a woman, and was able to carry it myself down the stairs. If allowed, I will update this assessment after several months of continuous operation in my basement. |

Features a little misleading Wish the timer or humidistat would turn on and off the fan. Noisy for our family room. I was mislead by the reports that it was quiet |

The right one this time! My basement is very cool all year (I live in the Midwest) and when it's humid outside, it gets damp. A couple of years ago, I bought what I thought was a quality humidifier and it "ran" but did not take out any humidity. Later I found out there are certain humidifiers built especially for rooms with cooler temperatures. This one works like a dream and you can set the humidity level and fan speed. No more musty smell in my basement. Yeah! |
