Nice lamp, with some problems
Paul from Trumansburg, NY – Verified Buyer
The fixture itself produces good light, and has an overall good build quality. Components are well-finished, accurate, and fit together well. The switches are of excellent quality. The fixture looks classy when it's installed. However, there are problems, too. The drilling template was not accurate for laying out the holes in the wall: when the canopy was hung, the horizontal arms lay below the hole positions suggested by the template. I think the template was drawn from the centers of the holes, but when the canopy is hung, it rests on its mounting screws at the top of the keyholes cut into the canopy base, dropping the level of the canopy by a half inch or so below the hole center. Don't drill holes for the horizontal arms using the template! Unfortunately, getting the holes in the correct place was fussy, and a big pain. Using a level to get the arms right and marking the correct positions for the holes still required assembling disassembling the canopy and taking down and replacing the fixture 3 times to get the job done right. Finally, the plastic wall anchors are not well-sized to the supplied screws they're for larger screws, and don't give the supplied screws a good grip. Because there is significant torque applied by the extended lamp heads, my bet is that I'll be cursing and re-doing the job a second time 2 years from now. Finally, because of the torque applied by the lamp heads, the heads distort the 12-volt connector bars if the heads are placed any place except close to the screwed-down support pieces at the ends or the middle of the bar. In particular, placing the heads in the position shown in the photo will result in the 12-volt bars being twisting into noticible and unpleasant arcs. I keep the lamp bases snugged up against the solidly-mounted end caps, and use the goose necks to position the lamp heads appropriately. My summary of the whole thing is too much design not enough engineering.

This lamp is the second I buy replacing an identical one that lasted a long time. It is said that to keep your marriage you should have such a lamp since your partner can sleep while you read. However I decided that this lamp would be best to illuminate my workplace. I can direct the light to a book and the other to the keyboard and work efficiently. In addition it looks elegant and different from other desk lamps. It doesn't take space of your desk since it is a wall lamp. I enjoy it and I recommend it.
Cool Look Great focused lighting

Takes up minimal space, operates independently, and adjustable to a point. You need to set the gooseneck light at a place on the cable that is relatively centered or the cable bows, somewhat. Would not recommend this for over a king size be - not side enough therefore, I used it in another bedroom and found something else for the king size. Wish it had the span, but happy with it. Tricky to mount need handy hubby and patience in spite of the supplied template.
Stylish but with lots of problems.

We liked the look of this lamp on the website, but now that its installed, we are not as sure about it. The gooseneck arms adjust OK but feel quite flimsy. However, our major complaints were with the construction of the lamp and some difficulties installing it. The mounting plate on the back of the center piece was upside down. We unscrewed it and turned it around. Then when we tried to slip it onto the screws as instructed, it was impossible to do. If you do get this lamp, just remove the plate, install it first and THEN attach the lamp unit to the plate. In addition, one of the metal plates at the point of the light attachments was so loose that it touched the wires and shorted out. It was fixable and we got the light working again. Given these issues, I'm not sanguine about its long-term durability.
Stylish and bright

My lamp was perfect. I have plaster walls, so drilling the holes to mount it was a bit of a mess. The lamp is not heavy, but it is sturdy and very cool over my bed. I don't have a headboard there, so it finished the look.

Most reading lights are very boring. This one is very attractive and functional at the same time.
