About New Zealand Radiata Pine Wood:
Radiata Pine, better known as 'New Zealand Pine' is a softwood tree that contains many properties that make it very suitable for furniture and furniture making. It has a density equal to that of hardwoods like poplar, mahogany and oak. Its uniform density ensures a smooth and consistent texture and confers its excellent machining, painting and staining properties; there is almost no variation in color between pieces. DaVinci's pine wood originates from forests maintained by managers that enforce environmental responsibility and the conservation of forest wildlife.

Great Set for Price We haven't used this set yet, but all pieces were easy enough to assemble following the provided directions. Each item arrived in their own box. No damage from shipping. More expensive items might be made of a harder wood, be heavier, etc but these seem sturdy. We purchased a different DaVinci model convertible crib for our other child and it has held up well. |

Quality not as expected The items arrived in a timely manner and look as described when assembled. Took about 1 hour for each item (taking our time of course). Pieces are not well labelled so must have an aptitude for assembling furniture in order make sense of things. Biggest problem is the hardwood items are really softwood ( blink and you might nick them... ). Also the laminate items (change table/dresser) the end pieces appear to be a lighter color then the rest of the oak covering (possibly even different color...) Other than this the items look good albeit not nearly the quality we expected. 3 stars. |
