It is a basic crib without side rails that lift up and down but for an occasional crib when we have guests, it is very suitable. We have a Bed and Breakfast and also have grandchildren who visit. The badly colored brassy wheels distract from its appearance however and I'll have to get them replaced. The wheels "work" well and the crib rolls easily. It is a shame that they couldn't have come in the same black that I ordered the crib in. I can't see how it converts to a toddler bed unless the fact that the mattress lifts and lowers to different heights is suppose to indicate a change in function. It would still have high side rails you wouldn't want a toddler climbing over. I also had a terrible time getting the huge stickers off the front and back of the crib. Was this helpful? Yes / No
