Cutlery Sets

I have to admit, you get a little jaded in today's information age. My three year old OXO stainless steel knife set (back in the day highly rated by consumer reports) was not holding up well. Additionally, it had never had a proper sized Santoku (although it's smaller Santoku is still good for small diameter cutting). I did a decent amount of research and decided this knife set was the way to go. The difference is stark. The knives clearly aren't cheap, even if the knife block is bamboo laminate on wood. The knives are well balanced and cut beyond my expectations. I even tackled some old winter squash and got some very clean and low effort chopping on them even though they were tough from being stored all winter. Almost bought 1 knife that cost more than this set. Then I looked at Consumer Reports and cancelled my one knife order. I'm very pleased with this set and plan to get at least 2 more sets for gifts. The knives are well-made and attractive with black handles and stainless steel blades. Knives are well balanced. The blade is serrated, which was not apparent in the photos nor mentioned in the description. While I do not like serrated knives because they tend to tear the meat rather than slice cleanly, the relatively open serrations allowed for clean slices without resistance. I am very happy with this knife and fork set the balance and style are very good. When I was looking for a new set I saw this one and like it. But when I saw the price I thought how good is it for such a low price.
