Heats up well .. Maybe too well. I burnt my first waffle. But I soon fixed that. You need to watch how much batter you put in it will overflow if not careful. I like the unit

I was provided this waffle iron free of charge for review purposes. Overall, it made waffles well, and the included recipes were good. However, the design is flawed: there is no "drip guard" beneath the lower plate, and unfortunately there is a separate base to the unit. This combination means that when you inevitably overfill the iron and batter spills out, it seeps into the crack where the base meets the main unit. It is very difficult to clean this part.

Our first batch was a test trial using all the settings. We decided on our setting and we are very happy with the unit. There's less waiting time for the family--6 slices per batch. There were mixed reviews regarding the "beep" at the website -- we find it helpful. It's a solid unit and seems to be well made. Cleaning is a little "touchy" -- Need to be careful with the batter that falls over the edges--you can scratch the surface if you use a utensil. I find wiping with a warm sponge is best. Cleaning the waffle iron itself is time consuming sometimes. (Wonderfully sloppy daddy! I'm fussy about getting all the crumbs out of the crevices -- but as long as someone else is cooking--I'm o.k. with it!) As for price you truly need to shop around -- there was a price difference of almost $60 at one store. We have used it for breakfast and "Fun Friday Dinners" with lots of icecream of course!
