ice cream in a hurry from Topeka, KS on 02/17/2015 – Verified Buyer
I have used this ice cream maker twice and was happy with the results both times. I used the whole milk/heavy cream recipe that comes with it the first time but changed to my own 2% milk/half&half recipe the second time, which was every bit as good as the higher calorie one. Start-to-finish mixing time was about 10 minutes. I put the freezer bowl in freezer overnight and mixture in fridge about 3 hours. Froze quickly, which is good for spur of the moment ice cream cravings. Recommend without hesitation.

It works! from Oakland, CA on 02/24/2015 – Verified Buyer
The first recipe we tried using the accompanying cookbook was way too sweet, we are trying for a fresh lemon sherbet next. Make sure you follow all the chilled/frozen prep guides. The ice cream maker works, won't likely replace pre- made ice cream from the store. This was a way to make ice cream without the additives, and in flavored not available. As soon as the package arrived I put the chamber into the freezer. We made a vanilla ice cream the next day.

Fun, easy, yummy ice cream maker! from Carlsbad, CA on 12/02/2014 – Verified Buyer
It has been super fun and quick and easy to use so far--once you realize that you really do need to freeze the special bowl MANY hours in advance. : } Our one complaint is that the ice cream doesn't quite taste like homemade ice cream... and in fact, reminds us of what eating frozen whipped cream would taste like. But it's still yummy... and we're going to try different recipes to see if we can get closer to the old hand-cranked flavor of our memories. : )

We would still recommend it as a fun purchase or gift!

Pros: Easy, quick, fun to make your own ice cream in only 20-25 minutes!
Cons: Haven't found the perfect recipe that tastes like classic homemade vanilla ice cream yet.

Delicous Ice Cream...... from Lynnwood, WA on 03/22/2015 – Verified Buyer
Got the red one, easy to use and comes with simple great recipes. Love it and there is nothing better than homemade pecan ice cream. Is a little loud when churning, but who cares, look what your making! Great value and name for the money.

Great ice cream maker from Lees Summit, MO on 07/20/2014 – Verified Buyer
I purchased this product so that I could make my favorite "ice". The flavor is Daquiri Ice and costs $7 a quart. This little machine is so easy to use and what a money saver. We have also made several flavors of ice cream with fesh fruits that are in season. It is also great for dinner parties - I make the mix ahead of time then make the ice cream while we are eating dinner. I then place the ice cream in the freezer until we are ready for dessert.

from San Francisco, CA on 01/29/2016 – Verified Buyer
It is loud, like some other reviewers remarked. This is very time consuming.... even though other reviewers state that ice cream comes in 20 minutes, you have to make the liquid batch at least two hours in advance, put it in the fridge for that amount of time, then put it in the machine. After more like 30 minutes, the liquid turns into "soft serve" ice cream. It is not firm like at the store, as others also noted. Then, you have to put it in your freezer for a few hours if you want it firmer. So, time-wise, it really is not that convenient. Ingredients cost more than store-bought ice cream.

Love it! from seffner, FL on 01/18/2016 – Verified Buyer
I can't believe how simple it is to make your own ice cream. (No wonder the chopped people always make ice cream in the dessert round.)

I bought this as a Christmas present for my foodie husband and we have been enjoying the fruits of his labors for weeks. The recipe book that come with it is great. Husband and 5 year old have experimented with a few different flavors and a ton of different mix ins. All of them have been a success.

I bought my dad an ice cream attachment for the kitchenaid stand mixer and we all agree that the stand alone unit is easier and faster.

Pros: Great value, easy to use, easy to clean

Pros: durable, makes sorbet and ice cream in 15 minutes! The recipe booklet is awesome too.
Cons: wish they had a larger color selection.

Easy to use with great results from Minneapolis, MN on 09/08/2010
Tired of hand-blending my ice creams I broke down and ordered the ICE-21. Just out of the box, I was really surprised with how big it was (the base is even bigger than my Braun blender) and all my initial visions of easy storage were done away with. That will teach me to read specs with greater attention. A pro with the size is that the ice cream bowl at 1.5 quarts is quite generous sized. I made two batches of ice cream since I received it - 0.5 quarts and 1 quart and had it last upto a week (for the 1 quart) for two people.

I have not tried ice cream recipes from the booklet, but I made two quick recipes I found online, 1 for ice cream and 1 for frozen yogurt and the results of both were fantastic. The ice cream came out slushier than I wanted to eat right away, but freezing for a couple of hours produced a delicious, creamy result. I'm very satisfied with it and thrilled that home-made ice cream is just 15 mins away. For easy re-use I keep the bowl in my freezer when I'm not using it, so that I can whip up a batch when the mood strikes.

If I had to mention a con, it would be that the machine is very noisy. I had a video streaming on my laptop when I started the ice cream maker and the subsequent noise drowned my laptop's puny speakers. But, I can live with that for 15 minutes. It also would have been nice if all the moving components were dish washer safe and the bowl came with a lid so that I could store my ice cream in it.
