"Hi Tara! Since this item ships through a small parcel delivery service, assembly is required. When assembling the cart, you could definitely leave the rack off and the side would be finished, however you would be able to see the pre-drilled screw holes. This could be fixed with a little bit of wall plaster or white plugs you can find at your local hardware store."

Elizabeth from Arlington, MA	4.0 4/9/2012 Quite Pleased I'm quite pleased with the cart. The only disappointment is the back is a flimsy material -- not as solid as the rest. But otherwise it's quite good. It was easy enough to assemble, though it did take some time. There's an unfortunate typo in the instructions -- at a very early stage, the instruction call for using the #5 screws, when really it should be #15. If you follow the instructions step-by-step, you won't realize the mistake until you need those #5 screws later. Then you'll realize you used shorter screws where you needed longer ones, but you'd have to disassemble to get them out. All seems to be structurally sound, regardless. I do recommend this product & actually ordered a second one (the smaller companion) Was this helpful? Yes / No

I use hot stones & wanted a stainless steel top with some extra storage space. I have gotten great responses from my clients on its looks but most important I enjoy the extra storage space for my lotions and extra stones. My husband appreciated the directions and detail for putting it together. I did not give it 5 stars only because I have not used it long enough to make sure it holds up to my work.
