I did a lot of searching for a cradle and I am so glad that this is the one I purchased. It is beautiful! The wood is nice quality furniture wood, the carvings on the cradle are gorgeous, the cradle is sturdy, and looks just beautiful. Yes, the 1" pad is not a mattress, count on throwing the included pad away and buying a mattress. The benefit of a cradle over a bassinet is two-fold: one: it rocks, and two: it is larger, so you can keep baby in your bedroom longer.It is very roomy so a baby up to 6 months would have no problem sleeping in here comfortably. For my first baby, I used a bassinet and she outgrew it so fast that I moved her to her room crib and found myself going back and forth between her room and mine and this time I thought I just needed a cradle size during her infancy stage. We've been using this bassinet for 3 months now, and we're happy with it. I'll be sorry when the baby grows out of it, which looks to be any week now. The bassinet is well-made and very nice looking--I especially like the way it looks with the canopy. My only complaint is that the mattress does not seem to be of the same quality. It's just a piece of foam, and I find that the mattress pad and sheets are difficult to put on, leaving the mattress somewhat misshapen."..."  Read more

I was a little hesitant to buy this because of many negative reviews I read on other websites, but I'm so glad I gave it a shot. The color is perfect, soft & neutral. It's much more sturdy than the other pack n' play bassinets I used for my other children. It was easy enough to put together, according to my husband. It took a little online research to figure out how to make the bassinet stable on the base. However, once my husband figured out how to secure the top to the bottom, my concerns were laid to rest. Practical, adorable, sturdy, portable, cozy, bed. Pros: Young baby can sleep and play comfortably in this basket...no strapping into a carrier or swing. Easy for diaper changes, too. Very reasonable price. I like that there is no hood to get in the way when caring for baby. Easy to have young baby safe, comfortable, and near you in house, outside, visiting. Easy to put together. Liner and sheet machine wash, tumble dry nicely. Cons: My basket had a straw odor that eventually disappeared. To me, the liner and sheet looked a bit dingy, even after washing, but once I started using it I didn't even notice it anymore. Some of the ribbon ties came loose from the liner, but just a few stitches easily fixed them. The manufacturer should make sure the ties are sewed on securely. All in all, a good price for a practical product. I would not be willing to pay more for a luxurious basket you only use a few months."..."  Read more
