A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to do a product review from Wayfair superstore. This offer could not have come at a better time, as I'm transitioning to working from home. My job requires a full day of computer time, and sitting passively in front of the computer all day somehow makes me simultaneously lethargic and distractible. With the transition to home, I was hoping to switch to a standing desk. I wasn't sure if I could make the switch successfully (I have enough ergonomics experience to know this transition would have to be handled correctly, or I'd abandon my shiny new desk to sit on the couch all day), so I wanted an economical solution that I could try on for size. My favorite part of the Wayfair shopping experience was the search capabilities. I really had no idea where to start, but was able to quickly narrow the field by selecting variables like Desk Height (the slider controlling price point was particularly helpful. Yes, there is a [$] desk available. No, I don't need to know about it). In the end, it was the diagram below that really let me hone in on the desk I wanted to try. I needed to make sure that a drafting desk would be able to give me a flat surface at a height high enough to meet my needs. The specifications provided for the Alvin and Co. Professional Drafting Table looked perfect[...]assembly required a bit more effort than expected (it would have been nice for the description to include a list of required tools). Nothing outlandish was necessary, just a hammer and a screw driver, but I had a disproportionate feeling of handiness once all was said and done.I would definitely recommend this table to others as a flexible, easy to set up standing desk."..."  Read more

I recently bought this desk, I was a little skeptical about at first (before I received it) because of the reviews that I read about it. Once I got it (ordered from Wayfairs) I decide to take my time and build it carefully since most of the reviews seem to me like they were result of poor construction. The first thing I noticed were all of the warnings: if the box was damage or if anything was damage, they tell you what to and how to get replacement pieces, etc. Fortunately all my pieces were in good condition. The frame of the desk is metal and the drawers and table top are compressed wood laminated with a maple colored laminated. I first checked that all the pieces were there and stated building it. It was pretty simple the instructions are not as clear as[...]but they were understandable. Now I have all put together with my laptop on top, I'm happy to say that it rolls quite well, the drawers run smoothly and the lock on the top drawers gave me some trouble at first but now if works just fine (maybe it need a day or two to warm up to me, lol) I'm very happy with my purchase I didn't give a 5 stars because I think that it could be perfect if it was less than $100 but it definitely does what it is suppose to do. My room is small and can just roll my desk were ever I want or just fold it to safe space, right now I have it in from of my closet and I can just roll it wait once I'm done. Bottom line is that this desk is just what I needed and does everything that it was advertised to do, just make sure you built if well so you won't any technical problems."..."  Read more

I was in search of a file cabinet that looked more like furniture compared to the cold metal that you typically see. I came across this piece and thought it was just what I was looking for. It looked sleek, modern and not too cumbersome. I almost passed on it though as I read online reviews from other consumers but with the price and my desperate need to get organized I figured I had little to loose. It was either this or cold... ugly... metal. And I was not disappointed! It came in pieces so I had to pull out my tools. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to put it together but the instructions were very easy to follow. The greatest complaint that I saw from consumers was that the drawer was uneven and was scraping the inside when opening and closing. I have absolutely no problems with drawer. I bought this table for my 10-year old daughter and she is very happy with it so far. Right now she does her homework on it. I will be home-schooling her in the Fall and we will need something that she can use daily for writing, drawing, reading, etc. This table is big and sturdy enough for her to do all of her schoolwork, plus arts, crafts, and sewing. She loves the fact that it has a built-in pencil trough, shelf, and book caddy. I like the fact that it tilts up, helping to improve her posture and reducing strain on her neck when she spends long periods of time at her desk. She is able to tilt it and put it back down without assistance. The table is also height adjustable, so we can use it for years to come. The quality is good, from what I can tell. Pretty easy to assemble - no problems. I bought a very nice desk chair for my daughter too, but unfortunately, the arms of the chair are at the exact same height as the table top when adjusted to a comfortable height. Perhaps a stool or an armless chair would be a better choice. All in all, a very good table for the money."..."  Read more
