This will be a rather lengthy review. For those who do not wish to read it in its entirety may I state that the model 8900W NOT pictured here is a very well-engineered commode. The “new” chair is much sturdier, has a better paint coating, and is even easier to clean. I highly recommend it. Why do I say ”NOT”, you may ask The commode, pictured here is of an earlier design. It was NOT very good. My wife has had 3 of these commodes (pictured here) in as many years. I would not and would not recommend the one pictured here. Being rather an inventive mechanical engineer I modified a component of the commode per my own design. It eliminated the failure in the drop down arm at the latch point. My wife, with her multiple sclerosis, had broken the arm in only a few months use. With the improvement the commode saw many more uses. It finally broke but only because one component I used failed which led to the arm itself failing as did the prior arms. I was so certain of my redesign that I had purchased a higher strength component when ordering another commode. I was ready to make the change when the chair arrived. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Nova Ortho-Med had extensively redesigned the chair. This “new” chair will last a long time. My redesign was no longer needed. I looked everywhere, for quite sometime, in stores, Pharmacies, Medical Supply Outlets, and online, for this particular Invacare All-in-One Commode, with the square platform base, instead of just the regular round toilet seat shaped opening. I finally found it, only online from Wayfair. Thank you for having this one. It is adjustable in height, comfortable to sit on, and quite unobtrusive looking when placed over the regular toilet. Before we got the DMI shower transport chair, my husband had to: transfer me from the bed to my wheelchair, from my wheelchair to the toilet, transfer me back to the wheelchair, CARRY me into our walk- in shower to put me on the old shower chair (no wheels). NOW,he transfers me from the bed to the DMI chair, WHEELS me to the toilet, (it fits right over the bowl), then WHEEELS me into the shower! His back thanks you, and I thank you!"..."  Read more
