Good product, pricy, still trying to optimize reception with remote

I've bought and installed several of these ceiling fan remote control units. This style mounts inside the lower light kit adaptor hub, underneath the fan motor (the other types install up under the ceiling mount). This is a pricy unit which sells between $75 and $140. I like the half-moon shape which is a much easier install than the brick style with opposing rounded sides which leaves practically no room whatsoever for wiring. This remote control kit comes with a rectangular connector that eliminates all wire nuts except for the two wires required for a light kit (if you have one). In any case, I ordered this more expensive Monte Carlo kit for compatibility with a Monte Carlo fan, BUT now I would assert that off-brand (cheaper) kits would probably also work, as well as including the rectangular connector. If you find a remote kit in the half-moon shape with the rectangular connector, I would bet it would work fine with just about any ceiling fan capable of remote control, and this should save you some money. This leads to my last comment. I have had better reception with other remote control units. My next step is to dangle the antenna outside the light kit housing, and to replace the stock batteries that came with the kit. Reception is just not as good as others I've installed.
great product good service.
