Coffee Tables

I was looking for a decent, simple modern coffee table and end table for my living room that wasn't very expensive. I just couldn't bring myself to paying $400+ plus for the ones I really liked because I know the moment I'm no longer a bachelor she (whoever she may be) will more than likely tell me my coffee tables aren't welcome LOL. :) For the money these coffee tables look great, are functional and have a very simplistic, modern look that fits well with my very modern decor. Now one must realize that this cheap of a price doesn't meant superb quality. The tables are by no means perfectly square and do wobble on the hardwood floor but on the throw rug they are fine. The welds (which you can't see once the tables are together) are rough and obviously were done very quickly. And because the table isn't perfectly square the glass does sit slightly up on one side. It's barely noticeable and unless you look closely you would never know it. All in all you can't beat them for the price but don't expect high quality furniture. I bought the lift top coffee table for every day use. You may notice I referenced several times how it scratches. I was using a cardboard paper coaster and slid it across the table. There was a small amount of dust on the table. I watched the scratches appear as I slid the coaster. I was mad. What kind of finish is on this table? I went out and had two pieces of custom glass cut to put on top of the table. The glass is split down the center so when you raise the half of the table that lifts up, it will have glass on it. The table is beautiful in design but is massive. Make sure you lay out a pattern of the table in the space you want to use it. We were surprised when we set it up. I waited six weeks for this coffee table to come in; it was backordered longer than that. I kept looking at other coffee tables but I knew this was the one. I have a very long sofa and wanted a coffee table with that length as well, but I also wanted the sofa to be thinner in width because most of my furniture is Scandinavian and doesn't have much heft. This is the perfect combination. The wood is gorgeous and fits in nicely with other pieces of light wood in my living room. The contrasting woods are a nice touch, and on a practical note there is a shelf as well. Last, the shape of the table is unusual. I bought this coffee table after looking at dozens and dozens in stores and also online. Both my husband and I decided we liked this coffee table the best. Size wise it is perfect for my living room not too big like some tabes are. It is not a chest but it has a very deep drawer which is good to keep the remote controls and magazines etc.. I would have given it five stars except the covering on the table and drawer the detailed map, is a paper laminate. I have a tiny chip off the drawer as you pull out the drawer which I can cover with a little brown acrylic paint. For the cost of the coffee table I would have thought it would have been made with a material that wouldn't easily chip off. So we will have to be careful with it.
