I have owned this for over a year along with the side table. It has a great amount of storage but still looks low and sleek. It is not too low, just about right in my opinion. Motion for opening is a good, smooth action. I like the removable sliding tray, and each of the 4 compartments underneath has huge room for dozens of magazines per compartment (even oversized, as the space is about 11.5" square by 8.5" deep for each of 4 compartments, though the sliding tray would cover about 1" of that depth).
Only complaint is questionable durability. I have this and the side table, a cat with rear claws, a toddler, and we put our feet up on it every day. Despite heavy use there are NO marks at all, however: one day my 2yr old rubbed it a few times with a shower-type scrub brush, leaving terrible obvious scratches. I ended up buying dozens of brown furniture pens (all worthless) and several shades of sharpie-type pens (outstanding). The sheen was mismatched for a few months, but later settled and now it appears exactly perfect again. I think the durability is average, not poor.
We love this piece, and have purchased very expensive furniture to go with it... but this is the perfect coffee table for a modern/slightly asian feel."..." Read more
