We live at 4800 ft. and were tired of lousy coffee from a cheap drip machine. When I read the theory about pre-heating the water and being adjusted for higher altitude, I went for it. This unit does a MUCH better job than our old one, using the same coffee. Not as good as a decent coffee house, but I haven't tried high end coffee in it yet. Also, it does look pretty cool. You can pour coffee without it spilling all over the place as the lip on the glass carafe is formed properly unlike some other makers I will not name. Seems like a small thing but to me it matters. The finished brewed product is excellent and I just wonder where all the bitter went. Same coffee, same measurement of coffee in the brew basket, but better tasting and boy is it ever fast on the brewing. The MSRP may be a little high compared to competitors but the quality seems great. I guess you get what you pay for. The purchase was not a mistake and Im happy."..." Read more

This unit really makes good coffee at 7000'. There was quite a delay in getting it to market and now I see why. The engineering was clearly rushed in their haste to sell units. The basket hole that the coffee drains out of looks like it was punched out with a 16d nail. The coffee filters are too short for the basket and the coffee grinds frequetly go over the top of the filters. When filling the unit with fresh water the carafe will spill water while you are pouring with the lid off. And not just a little water. Other than that its great!"..." Read more
